Jane arrived early to breakfast the next morning. Even though she had never been one to sleep much that night had been worse then most. She ha bolted upright in bed, almost landing on the floor. Her heart was pounding painfully in her chest as tears streamed down her chest. She had desperately wanted something. To go home, but not the lighthouse. Definitely not the house she had lived in with those pathetic excuses for guardians. It was so incredibly frustrating, she felt the need to move, to go. She just didn't know where. She had held herself still, trying to remember what had started this. She remembered going to bed and then nothing. It was all a blank in till she had woken up.

Even as she sat in the great hall, Jane gritted her teeth at the memory. She tried to ignore the too tight feeling of her skin and took a sip of coffee. They had the next three days without classes. It seemed that the Professors gave larger assignments and larger classes but also more self-directed work time. Jane was glad she had a tendency to finish assignments right after receiving them because right now she would be bloody useless for actually accomplishing anything.

She needed to clear her head. She wanted to wait in till after breakfast before going off. She thought maybe a walk around the grounds. Over the last month and a half she had spent most of her time indoors, doing homework and experimenting with magic. She hoped some fresh air would help the turning feeling in her stomach.

Sipping her coffee again, Jane pulled out her note book and turned to a new page. She made some notes on the day before in her most illegible shorthand she could manage, sometimes throwing in a symbol she had made up that reminded her of something. She acknowledged that she really need to figure out ow to spell her notebooks to only open for her, or else one days she was going to turn to a page and not recognize her own writing. She snickered as she realized she seemed to be developing her own code.

When she finished her notes she began to doodle, sketching different plants or things she had seen, sometimes with little notes on thoughts she had had or possible future spells. She started drawing an eye with stars in it and noted that she should try improving her eyesight like she had her hearing. She then moved on to a tree. Her hand seemed to move on its own, unconsciously creating the wide twisting trunk and a canopy that stretched past the edges of the page.

A clatter startled her and she looked up to see Roman sitting beside her.

"You didn't wait for me," he gave her a disapproving look.

"Sorry, couldn't sleep." It was true, she hadn't meant to leave him behind. They seemed to have reached an unspoken agreement that they walked to breakfast together and Jane mediately felt bad about leaving him behind. She also knew that if she had stayed a second longer she may have lost her mind. Jane slipped her notebook back into her satchel and picked up her coffee. She had nibbled at the cut up fruit but hadn't managed to eat much more ten that.

Roman watched her, his brow furrowed. "What's wrong?"

"Other than the mystery packages," Jane made a wide gesture as if one sat in front of her. "Nothing much. Just couldn't sleep." Jane hoped he would leave it at that, even as he sat turned towards her watching he every move.

He eventually turned away when a plate of bacon and eggs, along with a pot of tea, appeared in front of him. He began pouring himself a cup as he spoke. "How much coffee have you had?"

"Why," Jane looked down at the mug clasped between her hands

"Because you're vibrating and you're eleven," he smirked at her before taking a sip of his tea.

Grinning, she stuck out her tongue before poking his arm. "you're eleven."

He snickered back. "So mature."
