exhaustion.

exhaustion.

exhaustion.

what lies beyond each responsibility is an unknown exhaustion that was somehow expected at first yet overwhelming when already served in your plate- that's how seokjin would describe leadership.

after the night of their wedding, the royal couple had expected that things will now stream down to peace as they test the waters for the new joseon.

this- was- stressful.

ever since the first day of their reign- everything was chaotic- maybe in a way that everyone was so eager to question the couple if they are already successful in trying for a royal child, causing the two to live the day a little flustered with how everyone was treating them.

a royal child- already!?

the great grand queen had never shut up in regards to that night, enjoying the deep red of blush drawn in the queen's cheeks each time she'll ask her how it went.

to byulyi's conclusion, she's not even supposed to elaborate on how good things went, or even if it went bad...

the queen sighs softly at the idea, knowing that nothing ever went bad at that night except for her-

"your highness!"

the queen was soon snapped back into reality after a few seconds, hearing a snap of a finger right in front of her, hearing hyojung soon following with a trail of words. "what are you thinking on about that you are not able to hear what you are bound to do today?"

"ah," byulyi awkwardly shook her head, whispering. "i was just lacking in deep slumber for a couple of days," she rubbed her eyes, averting it away from hyojung. "where are we?"

hyojung then frowns for a moment, murmuring. "the royal leadership is burning you out, am i right...?"

if only i was certainly thinking about leadership before you knocked me out, hyojung.

"it is not." byulyi awkwardly chuckled, flipping through the pages of the ledger, mumbling. "how is it with your family within' the palace?" she asks hyojung, seeing the court maid smile softly, whispering. "it is still too much for you to allow my family and i to be within' the same village, your highness."

byulyi replies with a soft grin, turning to hyojung. "it is not just upon my approval, it is voted on within' the royal family- you belong to our family too, hyojung."

the court made smiles in reply, tilting her head, touched. "i am thankful, your highness."

comfortable silence occurs within' the two, hearing the queen snort playfully- turning to her best friend. "you should refrain from calling me your highness, you have never called me by my name ever since i've sat in this throne."

"but it feels illegal to call you by your first name!" hyojung giggled, taking byulyi's hand, squeezing it tight. "i mean... if having a good amount of time to have leisure and living in the same village with the royal family is already given, at least allow me to call you as your title!"

byulyi purses her lips, giving hyojung a suggestive glare- only for hyojung to give it back, signaling byulyi to let the thought go as the queen breaks into a sweet smile, shaking her head.

"you are indeed amazing, hyojung."

the court made then giggled, sighing. "... how is it spending leadership for days without seeing the king?" she murmurs, only for byulyi to weakly smile in return- mouthing. "we haven't even slept in the same room for almost a week, i am surely worried if he is eating well for i have heard that he's busy within' the reformation of education for all classes."
