a/n: to be very honest with you, this chapter was supposed to be angsty and more serious... but i've decided to crack something dumb in this chapter before the next update.

however, this is still essential in the plot so... enjoy! ^^

warning: mentions of playful yet short mature scene and conversations. however i think i shouldn't have put that as a warning since... y'all like it... lol

it has been days ever since the position has been switched. the news of byulyi surviving the bullet has been announced as well, and the frustration grows bigger into the great grand queen's side.

oddly enough, silence has been all over the palace ever since the guards has been handled by kim seokjin and taehyung.

the only uproar in the palace was all about the two new officials being talked about.

"ottoke? is he the new government official?"

the court maids whispers, passing through seokjin's opened office, busily going through the scrolls as they peek even more. "he's so young, he looks handsome." they gossiped, nudging each other's shoulder.

"i am glad that we are the one called over to send this to him." they giggled together, telling each other to go first out of pure embarrassment, thoroughly in disbelief at how handsome he looks, awkwardly knocking on the opened door.

"lord kim, the royal kitchen has sent you something."

about to squeal as soon as they saw his face when he looks at them, they nudge each other's shoulders, as seokjin's mouth part open. "royal kitchen?" he asks them, telling them.

"please come in."

they exchanged glances, pursing their lips out of excitement to see him upclose as they scrambled inside, offering him the palate.

"why... has the royal kitchen sent me this?" seokjin asks, as the single court maid explained. "this is an offering for the new government official, they wanted to thank you for accepting the government post."

she bats her eyelash prettily, expecting seokjin to spare her a glance.

but he didn't.

he carefully opened the palette, a little surprised to see the content. "a sweet treat?" he looks down, noticing the intricate and beautiful colors of pink and white in the dessert, flower petals decorating the sweet rice cake as he remained silent for a moment.

then a cold tea.

this is byulyi's favorite.

he purses his lips, before breaking into a small grin after remembering her theory about the iced tea. "can you please send this offer towards the royal guards' division in the second princess' hall?" he asks them, but they rather look dumbfounded.

"you... are not going to eat it?" they asked him, seeing him shake his head, whispering. "please send this for the second princess rather, i am not fond of sweets."

he lied.

he loved them, very much. but he can vividly remember how joyful byulyi is whenever she'll be eating those treats, deciding that maybe sending her this grand preparation can help her ease her loneliness for the mean time.

with the court maids' shoulder dropping after seeing his fond smile as soon as the second princess' was mentioned, they could only bow down and cover the palate.

"we will be sending this to the second princess, now, lord kim." they told him, as seokjin nodded slowly.

"thank you." he tells them, quickly going back in his work without looking back at them.
