entangled in joseon: the backstory, how the plan was carried out.

"is he breathing?"

hoseok whispers softly, kneeling down the ground to check on seokjin's pulse, muttering. "he's still alive." he looks up to see namjoon, murmuring. "kill him, i'll be back in the palace to tell the news." he stood up, motioning him to shoot the lord kim once more, as namjoon's jaw clenched, seeing seokjin's eyes fluttering open as he frowns, eyeing him.

"you won't do that." seokjin mouthed softly, in a volume wherein no one can hear the both of them.

namjoon shakily held the gun close to his chest, aiming to kill him.

hoseok had finally jumped to his horse, grabbing some of the men before whispering. "do your job properly, so you can have a position once you head back." he told namjoon, now leaving the place.

as soon as he left, namjoon could only shoot-

the ground, so close to seokjin, seeing him squeeze his eyes shut, as if he was assuming that namjoon is going to end his life in a moment.

to his surprise, the bullet hits the ground, not even damping near his skin as he grunted softly, seeing the rest of the guards about to attack him when he sat up, as namjoon held his hand, whispering. "don't shoot him."

seokjin's left eye twitches, watching him as he whispered while holding his wound. "what are you planning?"

namjoon licks his upper lip, looking around before docking down the floor, pulling his sleeves to cover seokjin's bleeding wound, hissing. "i will be announcing your death in the palace, but you need to run back in your hide-out." he commanded seokjin, tying up the wound as seokjin confusingly whispers, "is this a part of your plan with the jung?"

he grunted softly when namjoon tightens the fabric, shaking his head.

confusion, frustration, and even anger filled seokjin's head at the view of a part of his clan betraying him before getting back, gritting his teeth even when weak, quickly grabbing namjoon's collar to tackle him into the dirty ground, hearing the guns getting loaded, pointing at him.

"tell me, what are you doing, kim namjoon!?" he yelled, holding his collars as namjoon grips on his wrists, forbidding himself to talk.

"tell me!"

namjoon could only hiss softly, looking at him in fear and sadness, yelling. "they promised me!"

seokjin's eyes went wide, seeing the tears forming in namjoon's eyes. "they promised me to give me stability over my family, promising me a government position!" he yelled, adding.

"they've promised me that i will be wealthy, and i could finally provide for my family!"

"but they never told me that siding with them means killing someone." namjoon hisses, tightening his grip over seokjin's wrist, tears falling. "they never oriented me that i will be hurting someone else to obtain stability, and now- i have turned my back against the kim clan for this!"
