I panted as I ran down the hallway, barely dodging the vines of flesh that ran along the floor. I could hear the screams behind me. Tears fell from my eyes and were carried by the wind.

"Tessa. Where do you think you are going. You're not even going the right way."

I ignored the voice. It had been lying to me for weeks, I won't believe it now. I suppressed the urge to yell at it. I wanted to scream at it. Demand to know why it did what it did, but I couldn't give myself away.  I turned a corner, and came face to face with one of its cameras.

"There you are."

I screamed and jolted awake. I looked around the room I was in, remembering where I was. Great, another nightmare. I thought I'd gotten over all of that. I guess not. I caught myself rubbing my wrist, something I used to do when... well, I shouldn't think about that. I was tired, but knew I wouldn't be getting back to sleep. Not that I really wanted to.

I got up and walked through the halls of the labs. Making my way through to where I wanted to be. I opened the door.

Jack: Tessa? What's up.

Tessa: Hi Jack.

I could hardly choke out words. That caught his attention immediately.

Jack: Woah, you okay?

I started to cry again, mentally kicking myself. Pull yourself together Tessa! Jack shot up from his chair sprinting across the room to me. I appreciated him not teleporting. He hugged me tightly, stroking my hair. I grabbed him and buried my face in his chest, unable to stop myself from crying. He gently picked me up and carried me to the computer chair, sitting down.

Jack: What happened?

Tessa: Had a nightmare. From back on Earth. After you were sent away. The Solver, it...

I couldn't continue. I sobbed, remembering everything that had happened.

Tessa: Why did you have to leave me...?

Jack: I'm so sorry Tess. I should have been there. I should have fought harder to stay by your side. But I can be here for you now. And I promise, I will never leave you again.

I clung to him and cried for a long time. I have no idea how long I sat with him on that chair. All I know is that he held me the whole time. I calmed down at some point. I was trying not to fall asleep, but it was difficult.

Tessa: Hey Jack?

Jack: Yeah?

Tessa: Do you mind if I fall asleep? I'm really tired.

Jack: I don't mind at all. Feel free too.

I relaxed a bit more and allowed myself to fade into unconsciousness. Right as I slipped into sleep, I felt a kiss on the top of my head.

I stood in the doorway to my room, smiling as I watched Jack talk to the bots. They were all having a great time, even J was allowing herself to relax and enjoy the moment. I had gone to get something, and probably N had asked a question to Jack. V had joined the conversation, and J got sucked in as collateral.

Cyn sat quietly next to Jack, but appeared to be enjoying herself. She was always far happier, and more active, whenever Jack was around. She would usually quietly sit in the library for most of the day, only ever speaking to people when they would talk to her directly. But when Jack was over? She would follow him around like a puppy.
