{Jack POV}

I blasted my way through the mansion, looking for Tessa or the Solver. Reap3r interrupted me.

Reap3r: Boss, I found her.

Jack: Bring me there.

Reap3r: Initializing teleport.

I tore my way through space to Tessa. I appeared in a room I didn't recognize. There were a few spikes of muscle and other human tissue jutting up from the floor. Tessa stood over a malformed corpse. I couldn't tell who it was originally, so I guessed it was one of her parents.

Jack: Tess?

She spun around and aimed her gun at me. I raised my hands and cleared my throat.

Jack: Sorry. Reap3r couldn't find you. I got here as fast as I could.

Tessa: Not fast enough this time.

She put away her gun, and I lowered my hands.

Jack: That's becoming a worrying theme. Are those-?

Tessa: My parents, yes. Felt good to kill them. You would've loved it.

Jack: I wish I'd have been there to help. You good?

Tessa: Yeah, I'm good.

Jack: Reap3r, what's up with her?

Reap3r: Probably the ill effects of emotion suppression. Had to do it for the fight, but...

Tessa: You're talking to Reap3r, right? That's why you're staring at me weirdly?

Jack: Yeah.

Tessa: He suppressed my emotions so I could fight more effectively. Mother was good at resurfacing the childhood trauma. Probably going to feel crap later.

Jack: Oh yeah, we're going to feel terrible. Trust me, the emotional overload this causes it awful. We should get back to the others, yeah?

Tessa: Yeah. Then we can find Cyn.

Jack: And the Solver.

I placed a hand on her shoulder and teleported us back to the library. The bots had actually listened to me and waited for me to return.

Jack: Alright, I'll give you credit. I guess you are listening to me.

V: Not like we remember where we're going in here. We did get some visitors though.

N was covered in blood. His talons were completely red. He looked exhausted.

Jack: I was worried about that. N?

He turned to me. His visor was a bright X. Even without an expression, I could tell he was annoyed.

N: How about you think a little more before fucking off?

V and J's eyebrows raised. Tessa's head turned to me.

Jack: Okay, maybe I acted without thinking. Won't happen again.

N: Better not.

Tessa: what even happened N? There are so many corpses.

N: I, kept us safe while you two were off dealing with whatever.

{flashback. N's POV}

Jack blasted through the wall, vanishing from sight. The sonic boom shook everyone. I just stood there. He really just left us to fend for ourselves? What an asshole.

V: Now what? Do we just sit here?

J: He said wait, and we don't know where he's going. It's probably the best option.

I didn't bother inserting myself into the conversation. None of us remembered where anything was, so it was better to just wait. I was more worried about something else. The distant begging, growing ever closer.

Jack's violent departure was bound to have drawn attention. The very thing we were trying to avoid. Now though, we were going to have to deal with the humans. I know J didn't much enjoy the idea of killing humans. Something about the company and HR violations. I wasn't sure how V felt, nor Uzi.

I didn't care. Those things were hardly human anymore, and Jack had mercy killed a few. It still didn't quite right, but I chalked that up to a hardwired dislike of killing humans. They'd had the foresight to do something to preserve themselves. Jack had mentioned offhandedly that, in a pinch, we could drink human blood to survive. It was close enough to oil to serve as a replacement, but it wasn't as effective. I was starting to think we may have to use that.

Everyone else seemed to notice the begging. J equipped her swords, V had a sword and a gun, Uzi pulled up the Solver, and I had my claws. I wanted them instead of swords. Three wounds would take more energy to heal than one. It felt more personal anyway. Me and V's visors swapped to the X, while just one of J's eyes changed.

N: We ready? There could be a lot of them.

V: It has been SO LONG since we got to kill this many things! I'm more than ready!

Uzi: I did say I wanted to murder all humans. I was worried I wouldn't get a chance. Let's see how easily they die.

V: Oh, they die quick. Just make sure they're dead, humans are very determined.

J: I'll be sure to pull my weight.

N: Right then. Here they come.

The walking corpses began to enter our area. I activated my kill mode, which Jack seems to have renamed to "blood_river.exe". I could get behind that. I smiled and fired myself into the crowd of the resurrected.

My bladed wings cut many of them. I stabbed one and flew up, holding him up on my clawed hand. My tail came up and stabbed him in the head. I dropped him back into the crowd and watched one get crushed by Uzi. I've never seen a human be turned into a perfect cube. I dived down and wrapped my tail around the neck of another human. I heard a gunshot, and she had a hole in her head.

I glared at V, who laughed at me, before I pulled out my grenade launcher. I shot a single round into the densely packed crowd of humans. Blood, bone, and organs were sent flying into the air. I ate a dislodged heart out of the air. V flew up and began to feast as well. J and Uzi dealt with the humans who had survived the blast

{End flashback thing. Jack's POV}

Jack: Well damn. Glad you're all okay.

Uzi: You humans die really easily.

Jack: So do drones.

Tessa: Anyway, everyone's alive. We need to find Cyn. Any ideas from anyone?

J: In the mansion somewhere?

That was the most we got. No one had any idea where it might be. I was starting to get anxious. We NEEDED to get to Cyn. Tessa and Reap3r were trying to keep me calm, but it wasn't really working. Reap3r was trying to find any signs of its whereabouts, but trying to distinguish the Solver from the humans carrying the same identifier was taking a lot of time.

A resource we did not have.

Tessa: Okay look, I know things look bleak, but we're not dead. We can still do this. Me and Jack still remember our way around the place, and I have somewhere to go first. The dining hall.

Jack: Fuck, again?

Uzi: Isn't that where the corpses were?

Tessa: Yes, but it might be there.

We started walking. Our destination wasn't far, but it felt like it was across the world. The halls never seemed to end. I was going off of pure muscle memory. Consciously, I had no idea where we were. Nothing seemed familiar.

There was a display on a pedestal that stood out to me. A glass case, which contained a model of a vault door, similar to the ones on Copper-9. It was painted with blue and yellow, with barely legible text saying something was "here for you".

Eventually we reached the dining hall. The door had been shut again. I could see yellow light coming from the space between the door and the doorframe. I looked at everyone. They nodded. I raised my hand toward the door, and made a fist, shattering it.

Then we could see what was going on inside.
