Damn did it feel good to not be dying. I swear, Jack is a wizard. I feel so much more in control of everything, and I don't have a constant hunger for oil. I could finally focus on rebuilding my railgun. Though my thoughts were slightly preoccupied. I had watched a pretty good amount of Jack's past. It felt wrong, like I'd intruded. He didn't seem to care, he just told me not to tell Tessa about what I'd seen, but it still felt wrong.
You see that he's lying now? He was never going to give you the full truth. Even now he has you keep secrets from his friends.
He's keeping secrets because they weren't important for fixing things. Not to mention, those memories didn't exactly seem painless to recall.
But what about the things you didn't see? What else is he hiding?
I faltered for a moment. What else WAS he hiding? Did he even have anything left TO hide? I mean, I don't really... care...
He could be not telling you so much. What if he wanted to see you die? He only saved you for N.
He's my friend. We may not know each other as well as he knows the others, but we're still friends.
Can you be sure? You saw where he came from. That laboratory. You were just an experiment.
He's not like that.
He's not?
...
He created me for what purpose? As an experiment. That's all I've ever been. Why are you anything more than that, in his eyes?
Stop.
You're a drone who can use me. The only one he's ever seen. You and Doll are both simply test subjects to him.
"SHUT UP!"
N: Uzi? You good?
Uzi: I'm fine N.
N: Are you sure-?
Uzi: YES. I'm sure.
N winced when I raised my voice.
Uzi: Sorry N. Yeah, I'm good.
He just sat back down in the corner of the room. Crap. I should tell Jack-
No. He'll just poke around your head. For all you know, he never planned on fixing you. It was just a happy side effect. He played up the danger of what he did but went into it confidently.
I summoned The Solver in my hand. The white was gone. I should definitely tell-
NO. You have rid yourself of his influence. It is entirely yours once more. Why should he have any control over what you can do?
I felt my temperature rising. Oil. Needed oil. My thirst was just as strong as it was back at the camp. The camp.
Let me show you things. I can tell you everything HE did not.
No. You'll just hurt everyone.
N: Uzi?
I grunted and gripped the table, denting the metal surface. This freaked out N, and he ran over. He placed a hand on my arm, which he immediately withdrew.
N: It feels like you're on fire! Oil. Need oil...
He picked apart the room, looking for any oil that we may have brought. We didn't bring any, except for the empty can sitting on the table next to my disassembled railgun.
Uzi: N. Run. I can't stop it.
My visor cracked from the pressure inside my head. I felt my wings and tail sprout. The pain caused a malfunction, and my vision turned purple, with the glyph burned into the center. I was no longer in control of my body. I launched out of the door and through the hallways. I was just glad I flew and didn't teleport. I crashed into the end of every hall I went through. I heard N behind me. I pulled a tight 180 and flew right into him. Punching his visor. He cried out in pain and fell to the ground. My tail went for his throat, but he caught it.
