{Hey. 1k reads. Let's go000. Seriously though, thanks for all the support for this. Glad to see people are enjoying it!}

"Tessa! You gotta see this!"

"What is it now Jack?"

"Come look!"

I had been working for a long time. Tessa had stopped me from killing myself doing it about two weeks ago. Now it's time for her to witness the spoils of my slaving away at the computer. Tessa walked into the room and shut the door behind her.

Tessa: I've been over here so much that the bots are beginning to insist that I take them with me.

Jack: You could. Might be nice to have them here.

Tessa: Your parents might object to that.

Jack: Nah. They don't really care as long as they're not in the way of something important. Anyway, look!

I brought up The Solver in my hand, and stretched my arm out towards a Red Bull can I had on my desk. The glyph appeared around the can, and it was raised into the air.

Tessa: Holy shit!

Jack: I know! It took some thinking, but I finally got it working!

I refocused on the can and clenched my hand into a fist. The can crumpled inward and was turned into a small ball of aluminum.

Tessa: Well, that's frightening.

Jack: Isn't it so cool?!

Tessa: Yes! Just also frightening.

I picked her up with Translate, what doc had named the power, and tossed her into my arms.

Tessa: Woah! That was weird.

I hugged her tightly, she wrapped her arms around me.

Jack: I'm so happy it finally worked. Thank you for everything Tess.

Tessa: It's not like I helped you with the coding or anything.

Jack: Your consistent support helped me more than you can imagine.

I released her and fell back into my chair, looking up at her. She was blushing a bit, and was just as overjoyed as I was.

Tessa: Well, uh, you're welcome. So how much more is there to be done?

Jack: I've still got a bunch of things that need figuring out, but now that I've got this, it should be way easier.

Tessa: That's good to hear. I'm sure the bots would love to see you sometime soon.

Jack: N and V maybe, the only person J likes is you.

Tessa: She likes you fine, just has a weird way of showing it is all.

Jack: Uh huh, sure. Care to add the earth being flat and the first moon landing being faked to your list of conspiracies?

Tessa: Hey! Don't compare me to that! And she does like you, she'd be meaner if she didn't.

Jack: I'll take your word for it Tess. Would be nice to see them.

Tessa: We should go to my place now then! I'll grab my things and arrange transportation.

Jack: I'll wrap up here. Meet you by the front door?

Tessa: Yep! See you in a bit.

She quickly rushed out to collect her things. I laughed a bit at her and turned back to the computer.

Jack: How do you have so much energy Tessa? Feels like I could power the whole planet through you alone. Just wish I could summon the courage to tell you how I feel about you as easily as I can summon The Solver. I raised my hand to my face, the glyph appearing in my hand.

Jack: Just as easy as that.

"You were the one who worked so hard to create me."

"Why must you always oppose me?"

"People will get hurt when you do."

Jack: What the...?

"You're trying to kill my friends."

Jack: is that... me?

"They will be safer with me."

"They will be dead."

"Did Cyn die?"

"I know she'd want to."

Jack: Who is Cyn? Who are you?

My head suddenly screamed in agony. I grabbed my head and fell to the floor, writhing in pain.

"You should stop what you're doing. Before the memories become too painful."

"I'll do what I have to. To save my friends, and to stop you."

The pain became too much to bear. As my vision went black, I heard Tessa say my name.

"Jack?!"

"Jack!"

My eyes flew open, and I lurched forward. I leaned against the desk, breathing heavily.

Tessa: Jack? What happened?

I raised my hand to my face, summoning The Solver and staring at it. I heard nothing.

Jack: Don't feel like talking now, asshole?

Tessa: What are you-?

Jack: It spoke to me.

Tessa: It can do that?

Jack: It didn't. Hasn't for a long time.

Tessa: You okay now? You just started screaming and grabbing your head. Looked like you were trying to tear your brain out.

I looked around. N and V were standing nearby with hollowed eyes.

Jack: Yeah. I'm good now. Might need a minute.

Tessa: Are you sure this is a good idea? What if-

Jack: I'm a bit far to be turning back now. I have to see this through to the end. This isn't just about Uzi anymore. Speaking of...

I looked over at our resident Worker Drone. She seemed fine physically.

V: You sure you're alright Jack?

N: If this is hurting you, I'm sure you can find another way.

Jack: I have to do this. This is very personal now.

V: Just don't hurt yourself.

Jack: It will be fine. From the looks of it, only one more is necessary.

I sat back down and glared at the monitor.

Jack: You can't stop me motherfucker.

I slammed my hand down onto the keyboard, white energy coursing through me. I was more than prepared to face whatever this thing had in store for me. And I'd be the one coming out on top.
