{We go back to the past! Jack's perspective.}
{Cyn obviously does have the Absolute Solver, but it's scared of you, and hides whenever you're around. So, Cyn follows you around everywhere, and how could you hate that little drone?}
{ALSOOOOO. Please help me come up with a name for BETA. Unless you want it to be called that.}
I woke up and stretched, reaching over to check my phone. I was expecting an email or two. What I wasn't expecting was a message from Tessa.
Guess what Jack?
What?
Guess
Don't be this way
Fiiiiine. Come over. I have something to show you
Gimme a minute
Starting the clock
Smartass
I got up, changing into regular clothing, and grabbing my coat. I teleported out of my room, and outside of Tessa's.
Here
The door flew open, and I was dragged inside.
Jack: What the hell?!
Tessa: Come on! Come see!
Jack: Calm down for fucks sake! What?!
I was dragged through the room, over to one of the corners. A little drone sat in a chair. Judging by the hair given to her, she was a girl.
Jack: Um, hi?
Tessa: Introduce yourself please.
Cyn: Hello. My name is, Cyn.
Something was off about Cyn, but I couldn't figure out what it was.
Jack: Jack Messorem, pleasure to meet you.
One of Cyn's eyes glitched when I said my name. She tilted her head to the side with a puzzled expression.
Cyn: Jack Messorem...
Her eye glitched again.
Jack: ...Are you okay?
She smiled and nodded. She was suddenly far livelier than she had seemed when I walked in.
Tessa: I think there's a few problems with a couple of her joint motors, as well as her visor LEDs, but it seems mostly fine now.
Jack: I thought you weren't allowed to go dumpster diving anymore.
Tessa: Eh, what people don't know can't hurt 'em, right?
Jack: Not entirely true, but-
Cyn leaned forward in the chair and wrapped her arms around my waist. I looked down at her. She looked up at me. We blinked at each other. I picked her up and she wrapped her arms around my neck.
Jack: Yeah she's mine now.
Cyn leaned onto my shoulder. Tessa giggled at us.
Tessa: Well, she seems to like you.
Jack: I will protect her with my life.
Tessa: I'm sure you will. I should check on the others. Coming?
Jack: Sure.
We walked over to the door, I used Rotate to turn the knob. Cyn saw it and gasped, clinging to me tighter. I carefully placed a few fingers between my neck and her arm.
Jack: Sorry, does that scare you?
Cyn: A little. It's okay, don't worry about me.
Jack: I won't do that too much, I promise.
Cyn: ...Thank you.
Tessa: You really like her, don't you? You usually just tell people that they'll get used to it.
Jack: Yeah, well...
I moved my head to look at Cyn, who smiled happily at me.
Jack: Y'know.
Tessa: Yeah. Come on. N and V have been constantly asking when you'll come back.
Jack: I suppose I ought not keep them waiting.
Tessa led the way through the mansion. N and V were sitting at one of the bars, just talking.
Jack: Hey guys.
V/N: Jack!
I very quickly found myself with two more Worker Drones wrapped around me. Tessa laughed at me.
Tessa: Well, look at you.
Jack: Is this what it's like to have kids?
Tessa: Probably.
Jack: I could probably get used to this, if I have to.
Tessa: You're gonna have to.
Jack: Ah. Well then.
Louisa: What is going on here?!
Jack: Mrs. Elliot! A pleasure to see you. These drones are on break at the moment. No need to wear out the servos too early, right? I've taken a liking to them anyway. But don't worry, they'll be getting back to work soon.
Louisa: ...If you say so Jack.
Tessa's mother walked away, probably not caring enough to pick holes in my argument. Thankfully, it was pretty solid anyway.
Tessa: That was impressive. New best time.
V: How are you so confident talking to her?
N: Yeah, she'd usually have screamed at anyone else.
Jack: It's simple really, she's scared of me, I'm a guest, and I'm a Messorem.
V: It's just that?
Jack: Just that. You should probably make yourselves busy though. I can only do so much.
V: Yes, of course. Thank you Jack.
N: Yeah, thanks Jack! You saved our lives, probably.
V: Don't say that!
The two of them walked away to find something to do.
Jack: ✋︎ 👎︎☜︎💧︎🏱︎✋︎💧︎☜︎ ☟︎☜︎☼︎.
Cyn nodded into my shoulder. How did she understand what I said? Some kind of upgraded translation software?
Tessa: If you're saying what I think you said, I hate her too. You're very good at dealing with her though.
Jack: You're starting to make me think you DO understand me. That or you know me pretty well.
Tessa: All the Wingdings I know is curses. I think I just know you well.
Jack: There are worse things, but that will be a problem if you start learning it. I won't be able to secretly say things anymore.
Tessa: I might have to try a little harder to figure it out then.
My phone buzzed in my pocket. I checked the notification, and saw it was one of the emails I was expecting today.
Tessa: More bullshit?
Jack: Always. I have to go.
I handed Cyn to Tessa. Cyn looked like she was going to cry.
Jack: Hey, I'll be back.
Cyn: You promise?
Jack: I promise.
Tessa: Don't worry Cyn, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to come and see you. If somehow he's not, I'll drag him here for you.
Jack: You won't have to go that far.
Tessa: I better not. Now go. Attend to the thing.
I bowed to Cyn and Tessa, and disappeared in a flash of white.
