Remembering who I am

I'd had a while to think. 5 days, to be exact. And I've come to a decision on what to do. I need to talk to Uzi though, and that was easier said than done. N's mood has improved, but any mention of Uzi or the colony will have him depressed for at least an hour. V was not being helpful, especially since currently, N was finding something for her. Neither has told me what though. After some sitting around and trying to guess what V had sent N to get, I got my answer. N had brought back... three well-dressed skeletons. Lovely. V was very amused by the look of mild disgust and concern on my face.

V: Aww what's wrong Jack? We literally live in a tower of corpses! A couple more won't hurt.

Jack: At least it's not my corpse, I guess.

V laughed at me, and then finally explained her plan. I do not know how she heard about this, but apparently the colony's going to be having a prom. V wants us all to get dressed up, infiltrate the prom, and kill everyone. I had mixed feelings. More about taking a tuxedo off a skeleton than the prom murder. N didn't like the idea though.

N: I do wanna be dapper... but no! That's why you had me find these? We can't interact with the workers anymore V. We're too dangerous.

V: Uh, exactly. We show up fabulous. The sad little purple one lets us in, because she has no friends. We kill everyone and pop her little head off.

A pretty foolproof plan in theory, however there's two major problems. One, Uzi isn't stupid. Two, she's far more dangerous than N or V are. Even if she doesn't know it.

N: I'm not freeing you for prom murder V! J went holo spooky snake crab, and we maybe grew up in a haunted mansion! Aren't you worried we have no idea what we even are!?

Me and V looked down, failing to meet N's gaze. I don't know why he's lost his memories for the most part. And I have no way of restoring them. But maybe it's better if he doesn't remember. The memories aren't exactly pleasant, and aside from me and V, his past is mostly dead and gone. It's next to impossible that we'll ever see anyone from earth ever again. But then again, I thought The Solver was gone, and look where we are now.

V was quiet for a moment, before turning back to N.

V: Promise me that you and that purple thing will stop prying into that stuff?

She looked into the broken mirror. Her gaze meeting my own in the reflection.

V: If you free me now, I promise we'll only kill what we need to survive. Just you, me, and Jack.

V tapped the lock on the collar that was currently locked onto her neck. Both disassembly drones looked over at the key, which rested on the dashboard, next to the comms panel Uzi was messing with a while ago.

N: V, if you're hiding something, maybe we can figure it out together. Even if we only have bits and pieces. Please, what do you know-

In the blink of an eye, his head was off.

V: What's best for you. Even if you hate me for it.

She grabbed the dress off one of the skeletons and extended her wings.

V: You coming?

Jack: Maybe in a bit. Go on, do your prom murder.

She nodded and flew out of the hatch. I looked over at N's currently headless body.

Jack: Well, would you look at that. You've gone and lost your head. Again.

While he was dead, I changed into one of the tuxedos. Fit quite nicely. Pretty quickly, his head came back, and he regained consciousness. He woke up with a small scream, but pretty quickly calmed down.
