Aziraphale did like books, but they often read them for ideas for temptations for humans. He quite liked the ideas that humans came up with. Sometimes it quite surprised him when they came up with even more outlandish ideas than demons.
Crowley wasn't much of a fan of books, he'd rather hear stories directly from people. Or more specifically the demon he spent most of his time with. Aziraphale.
At this moment, Aziraphale was just reading some random book. He scratched through his dark brown hair. Hell didn't let him keep his white hair after he fell.
He was only staying inside because he hated parades and there was one outside of his bookshop at this moment.
Aziraphale knew for sure that Crowley was out there right now.
Letting out a sigh, he got up and put the book away. He put it back in the empty spot where he first got it.
On his way back to the couch, he brushed his fingers along the old polished wood that held the cushions together.
He sat down and slouched, putting a foot up on the table. He wore simple leather shoes, they were black. The shoe laces were terrible and would never stay tied. So Aziraphale just walked around with untied shoelaces. But he never tripped, by some miracle.
Suddenly the door was pushed open and the bells chimed. It was Crowley.
"Azi, what are you doing here?" Said Crowley, crossing his arms.
He found the name the Angel gave him cute, but he never admitted it, "Look, you know parades aren't my scene. Too lovey dovey."
"Oh come on!" Crowley said, walking up to Aziraphale and grabbing his hand, pulling him up.
Aziraphale just gave up immediately, knowing how persistent the Angel could be.
Crowley opened the door and pulled him outside.
It was a lot louder than it was inside, but it wasn't much of a shock. It was a parade after all.
Crowley was still holding him by the hand as he pulled him down the street.
After a while, they were stopped by some man with a hat.
"Oh hey beautiful, would you like this hat? I think it would look cute on you?" The man said, holding out an odd looking hat. It was green and crocheted with a little stem looking thing on the top.
Crowley, completely oblivious to the flirting, took the hat. "Thank you so much!"
Aziraphale gave the man a look and pulled the Angel a bit away, "Thanks but we should keep going."
The man backed off and went back to his booth.
"Aziraphale, that was rude."
"He was flirting with you." He said quietly as he dragged his Angel back to his bookshop.
"No he wasn't, he was just being nice."
"He was, trust me." Aziraphale said as they finally made it to the bookshop.
Crowley put the hat on as they got in and the door closed. "See, it is cute! He was just saying it would look cute."
"Ok then why did he say beautiful, explain that? And you also look like a fucking strawberry."
"You don't have to be mean about it, Azi." Crowley said quietly. She looked down.
"You can't just let random people flirt with you." Aziraphale yelled at Crowley.
"Stop!" Crowley yelled, tears fighting his eyes to come out. "You can't just talk to people like that!"
Aziraphale went quiet, suddenly realizing he went too far. He looked at Crowley and bit his tongue with his teeth. Not letting himself utter another word.
Crowley left the hat on. He was wearing a queen shirt with a gray sweatshirt that was way too big for him. With black sweatpants that went to the floor. Crowley was notorious for buying clothes that barely fit her properly.
"I'm sorry, Angel." Aziraphale said quietly as Crowley sat down.
"It's okay," Crowley said quietly, playing with the hem of his shirt, "I know he was flirting, it's not like I was going to do anything about it."
"I meant strawberry in a cute way not a mean way." Aziraphale admitted under his breath.
"Well I thought you didn't like the hat?" Scoffed Crowley.
"I didn't like the guy." Aziraphale exclaimed, "Not the hat. It does look weird but it suits you I suppose."
Crowley smiled up at the demon who was still standing.
Aziraphale sat, the two sitting in silence.
Crowley put the hat on the table next to him. Her strawberry blond hair was light and all ruffled from the crocheted hat. The sunlight from outside bounced right off it.
"Got any new books?" Crowley asked, trying to change the subject.
"Not really." Aziraphale said awkwardly.
"Well," Crowley stood, grabbing his hat and tucking it away, "I think I should get going."
"Wait!" Aziraphale stood, regretting his desperate tone, "Wait."
Crowley stood in front of the door.
Aziraphale walked up to the Angel. "Please stay. I'm sorry."
"It's okay, Azi. I just think I should go." Crowley said, staying in his spot.
Quietly the demon took the angel's hand once more, "I'm sorry. I was jealous."
"You? Jealous?" Crowley couldn't help but smile a little. "Didn't expect you to be the jealous type."
Crowley booped the demon on the nose with the hand that wasn't being held.
"Well I was-am." Aziraphale corrected himself.
Crowley stepped back into the house, keeping their hands interlocked.
Aziraphale sat Crowley down and quickly sat beside him.
The Angel smiled and rested her head softly on the demon's shoulder.
Aziraphale sat there for a moment, thinking of what to do. He hesitantly wrapped an arm around the Angel.
Crowley smiled against the demon's shoulder. The shoulder pad that the demon was wearing was quite uncomfortable but she didn't mind.
The two just sat there for what felt like forever.
Neither of them wanted to move, as they just wanted to stay with each other.
Obviously they would have to move at some point. But they didn't have to now. Not for a while they hoped.
