You couldn't believe you let him fluster you like that. Honestly, you were shocked anyone could have that effect on you. Maybe it was the way he'd cupped your cheek as gently as he did, or maybe it was the prolonged eye contact. Oh and his voice... your legs felt like jelly when he spoke softly like that. Like you were the only other person in his entire world. Spencer constantly made you feel like you were more important than anything else.

Lunch was at a small sandwich shop. It was family owned, you could tell. They were all so nice. One of the employees kept complimenting Spencer; it was obvious she had a crush on him. It made you giggle, especially when you saw his face. Eventually looked uncomfortable enough that you stepped in, grabbing his hand and giving the girl an apologetic look. She connected the dots pretty quick, smiling with a small nod in response. Spencer thanked you under his breath. "I didn't know how to tell her I'm not interested. People don't really flirt with me enough for that," he said to you while you ate. You shrugged. "Just pull out your friend and act like you got a text from someone. It's what I do, at least."

After lunch, the two of you decided to go back to your apartment to relax. Spencer went to his place real fast to grab a few books he wanted to share with you, then it was relatively chill for the rest of the night. The two of you sat next to each other, silently reading unless you wanted to share a funny line from your book. It was peaceful. "I can get used to this," you said softly. "Used to what?" Spencer checked his page then set his book down. You had his full attention, which honestly just made you feel flustered again. "Well... this. Just doing our own thing together." He nodded thoughtfully. "For some people, that's all affection really it's. It's more commonly referred to as parallel play; when two people spend time together without actually doing anything together. It's the company that matters to them."

You looked at him with a small smile. "Am I doing that thing again?" He asked nervously. "You didn't do anything, Spence." Reid nodded. "Sometimes I'll start sharing facts with people and they cut me off because I'm rambling," he said. "It's not your fault. Not everyone wants to have as much knowledge as you. It's not as easy for everyone else." You kissed him on the cheek. "You can ramble to me whenever you want, Spence."
