Spencer hated the case

Spencer hated the case. Nobody cared enough. This kid was just like him, he knew it. And the whole thing made him wonder why he was in the FBI. What if life had gone differently and he had a future as an unsub instead? Hotch seemed convinced he was fine, but Spencer didn't know. He called Y/N as soon as he got off the jet. He didn't care what anyone would have to say, he could not wait to finish the paperwork. He needed his girlfriend.

Thirty minutes had gone by and everyone was at their desk doing paperwork when she pushed the door open. The visitors badge was clipped to her sleeve, and she walked straight to him. Spencer stood up and collapsed into her arms the second she was in grabbing range. "Hey. Hey, it's okay. You're okay," she whispered, placing a hand on the back of his head. "Y/N?" One of the others started, but Hotch stopped them. "Y/N, take Spencer to my office. I'll wait outside," he said. She nodded and led Spencer to the office. "What's wrong?"

"They weren't listening to me." He sat on Hotch's couch. "The unsub. He was like me. And he'd been getting bullied." Spencer wasn't crying exactly- he'd shed no tears, but he felt like he should be. "Hey. Look at me," Y/N said softly. Spencer looked up at her. She was wearing one of his button ups and a pair of jeans. Beautiful. "Did you get him the help he needed?" He nodded. "That's why you do what you do, Spence." Y/N kneeled so he wasn't craning his neck to look at him. "You know it's hard. People are going to disagree with you, but you still save people in the end. You saved this unsub, even though it was hard."

He nodded, then let out a dry laugh. "Guess the team knows we're together now," he said, desperate to change the topic. She playfully rolled her eyes. "Just a little." Y/N hugged him again, pulling away to kiss his forehead before standing. "You need anything else?" She asked softly. "Actually, since you're here, we might as well talk to the team. If you want," he added. "You take some time to collect yourself. I'll chat with the team. It would be nice to see Garcia again." He nodded and she left, but not before giving the top of his head a kiss.
