Spencer woke up slowly. He liked to take his time in acknowledging the day. He stretched his arms and neck, acutely aware of the girl in his lap. When he opened his eyes, she was staring at him, cheeks dusted with pink. "See something you like?" He teased, smirking. Where this confidence came from was beyond him, but he wasn't going to argue. The look on Y/N's face was priceless. Too bad he couldn't take a picture, she looked absolutely stunning. The sleep dust clung to the corners of her eyes and her hair was slightly messy and all he wanted to do was kiss her. Unfortunately, he'd agreed with himself that until they were dating or she initiated it, he wouldn't kiss her again. He wanted her to be comfortable.
He got up to shower, and by the time he was back, Y/N was already fast asleep. He smiled to himself and picked her up, carefully carrying her to his bed. Of course, the thought to wake her crossed his mind. He did want to spend time with her before work, but he couldn't stand the thought of being the one to wake her up. She looked so content when she was sleeping. Unburdened by it all. Reid wrote a quick note and set it next to her. He wanted to show that his apartment was a place she was welcome to visit anytime, so he set things out for her. Some clothes on the dresser, a fruit bowl strategically placed at eye level in the fridge. A quick kiss to the forehead, then he was off to work.
When he got there, he was relieved to find out it was just a paperwork day. Hotch told them that they were pretty much free to go once the paperwork was done. He also let them know that he'd be giving them all the next week off because they'd been working back to back on cases. "I'll call if anything needs our attention." Spencer finished by noon, then stuck around to keep the others company for a bit. Once she was finished, Prentiss pulled him aside. "So... did you talk to her?" He nodded. "We agreed to take things slow. Start as friends, go on dates occasionally. She needs time to adjust to being home," he responded. She smiled. "I'm glad it worked out for you. Tell her hi for me." Spencer nodded again. "Thanks for the help, Prentiss."
Spencer didn't text Y/N to let her know he was on the way, wanting to surprise her. He stopped at a small flower shop and bought a small bouquet of roses, then went to the coffee shop to get them both some coffee and snacks. Alex was more than happy to help, promising not to text Y/N. Reid opened his door slowly, peeking his head in. No sign of Y/N. "I'm back," he called. "I'm in the bedroom!" Spencer shut the door with his foot and entered the bedroom, bouquet behind his back. He set the coffee and food on his nightstand, glad Alex had put them on a cup carrier. "I got snacks," he said, savoring how she lit up when she saw what he was holding. "You didn't have to do this! Oh my god, Spence... Why are you looking at me like that?"
He pulled the roses into view. "I got you flowers." She hid her face in her hands. "Spencer! Oh my god! I love them." Y/N sat up to kiss his cheek. "Where do I put them?" He walked over to his dresser and set them down, then crawled into bed with her. "I'll put them in a vase before you leave." He purposely left out the word when, implying she could stay however long she liked. Obviously he knew that at some point she would have to go, but not anytime soon. At least, he hoped. Y/N passed him a donut with sprinkles and his coffee, smiling in thanks. "How was your day, pretty boy?" He took a bite and swallowed before speaking. "It was good. Just some case reports, nothing serious. Hotch is giving us the next week off to rest because we've been back to back. How was your day, pretty girl?"
"Well, I got to wake up once in your arms and another time in your bed, so not too bad." Spencer smiled and let her give his cheek another kiss, then pulled her closer. "I'm glad."
