You couldn't believe he was so dull. You figured Spencer would know better than to make another person the reason for sobriety. That was unhealthy. The best person to be sober for was yourself. Of course you felt guilty about how you'd told him that, but he needed to hear it. Spencer knocked on your door as you were getting ready for bed. As much as you loved him, sometimes he really needed to give it a break. "What do you need?" You asked, opening the door. You weren't really dressed, just standing there in a loose crop top and underwear. He blushed, not being used to the sight of you in such revealing clothes. Most of the times you'd slept in each others beds were in hoodies and sweatpants. The one time you showered together didn't really count.

"C'mon, don't make it weird, Spence." He cleared his throat. "Sorry. I was going to ask if I could come in but if it's a bad time...?" With a sigh, you stepped back to allow him in. Was it hurting you to be mean to him? Yes. Did you want to throw it all out the window and kiss him? Also yes. Could you? No. "Come on in. What's up?" Spencer looked everywhere but you, still blushing. It was cute, honestly. "I understand what you meant and I realize that making you the reason I'm sober is unhealthy. Statistically that would fail the second we argued again. I just wanted to apologize."

The softness in his voice made it impossible to hide your feelings; there was nothing you could do to hide the wave of emotions you felt. Sadness was a big one. There wasn't a day that went by that you wished your friendship hadn't been spoiled. Happiness, because he was getting better. Grief. Pride... You sat next to him on the couch. "Thanks."

"I miss you." He stared at his hands clasped in his lap. "I miss you too." The two of you sat next to each other, not speaking. "Can I stay the night?" You gently pulled Spencer's hands apart and interlocked your fingers. "I'd like that." You whispered.
