Spencer walked into his apartment like a man on a mission. He technically was, in all fairness. He rushed to his bathroom and grabbed all the Dilaudid that he had. Reid let out a breath, them started opening the bottles and dumping them down the sink. As hard as it was, he could hear crying coming from next door, and knowing he caused it was worse than withdrawal could be. He froze when he heard the puking. "I'm sorry god dammit!"
What was she sorry for? Wait... Did she think this was her fault somehow? That would explain the avoidance, the aversion to eye contact, the guarded stance. But it wasn't her fault. She gave him the option to choose and he chose wrong. Everything that happened was Spencer's doing. Once he finished dumping all the Dilaudid he broke the syringes and threw them away. "This is going to be difficult," he said to himself.
Difficult was putting it lightly. He was forcing himself to quit cold turkey on a drug he used daily. There would be mental drawbacks. Physical drawbacks. It's not that easy to rip something away from your body after you've craved it for so long. He sighed thinking about the mental and physical stress he was about to go through. If you had told Doctor Spencer Reid a year about that he would struggle with addiction and then cut himself off for a random lady he met because of housing, he would have laughed in your face. Now though, he prayed it would work.
