You'd been nervously pacing in your bedroom for the last hour. No matter how much you thought, you couldn't figure out what you were going to say to Spencer. You had the gist of it down, but it was the phrasing you needed to work on. With each lap around your room you just got more and more anxious. What if he didn't want to be friends? What if he wanted to just start dating you? You weren't ready for that yet. You needed time to readjust to being back home. A relationship would only confuse you. Your phone ringing pulled you out of your head.

"Hello?" Oh thank god, it was Spencer. "Hey, Spence. What's up?" You couldn't hide your anxiety, he could probably tell you were nervous. "You free to talk?" He also sounded nervous, now that you thought of it. "Of course. What's up?" This was a very awkward phone call. The tension was palpable. He stayed quiet, as if he was scared to talk. You smiled to yourself. For all his confidence about his job, you forgot that he was still just a guy making it through life in his early twenties. He was just as nervous as you. "What state are you in?" You asked, trying to help him relax by distracting him. "Texas. It's warm here." You laughed. "I bet it is. You should tell me about Texas when you get back. I've always wanted to go. I've got cousins there."

"It's honestly not much. At least, in my opinion." Distracting him seemed to have worked, he sounded more calm. "Listen, about last night-" You stopped him. "That's not a phone call conversation. We'll talk about it when you get back, okay?" Silence, then a relieved sigh. "Alright." Someone on Spencer's end said something that you couldn't make out, then he let you know that he'd have to leave. :Stay safe, Doc. I care about you." You could hear the smile in this voice. "I will. I care about you too. Goodnight, Y/N."

"Goodnight, Spencer."
