After falling asleep next to someone for a week straight, returning home alone just made you sad. Of course, there was a guy who was trying to hit on you, so you were glad you got out of the bar when you did. Spencer texted you to say that he'd be running home to give you his apartment key and grab some clothes, then he'd be gone for some amount of time. He packed a few days worth of clothes while you watched from his bed, holding the sweatshirt he'd worn when you went on your walk. Before he left, Spencer had kissed your forehead. "I'll be home before you know it. See you soon, Y/N." Then he was gone.

The first day alone you spent at work. Alex, who regularly talked to his brother, knew you were nervous. He tried to distract you, but to no avail. The second day you spent in Spencer's apartment, wearing his clothes and assuring yourself that he was okay. You couldn't shake the feeling in your gut that something was wrong. Spencer called to let you know that they might have had a lead and warmed you not to call him for the next couple days so his phone wouldn't go off at a bad time.

On the third day you woke up crying. You'd had a nightmare. Most of the details escaped you, but one stood out- Spencer. Something was happening to him in your dream and you couldn't stop it. The feeling was made worse when you saw the text on your phone. It was from Spencer, yet it was unlike anything he would ever say. It was a bible verse. Your gut told you this wasn't Spencer, but someone else. You texted Derek, receiving a response instantly. He was calling you. "Derek what's happening?" You asked. "Read me the verse."

His voice let you know that something was indeed very wrong. "It says- it says the soul that sins shall- shall die. Derek, what's going on?" He ignored the question, asking when you got the text. "A few hours ago, I was sleeping and only just saw it. What's wrong?"

"Shit. Listen. Do not panic. The unsub has-" It immediately clicked for you, and you cut him off, crying out in pain and falling to the floor. At the same time, you heard Emily in the background. "He's killing him!" You knew she was talking about Spencer just as much as you knew the pain you were in would keep you from moving. "Y/N listen I know you're scared but you need to stay calm. Hotch is sending Alex to your location right now, stay where you are." The call ended, leaving you crumpled on the floor around the phone. You were struggling to breathe. No matter how large the breath you took, you couldn't get enough.

By the time Alex got to you, you had crawled to the door and opened it, then sat against a wall to try and breathe. He picked up effortlessly and flew to his car, speeding to the hospital. "She stopped breathing. She needs help and she needs it now," he said loudly as soon as he ran in. As fast as the hospital staff could, they had you hooked up to various machines, one of which helping you to breathe. The last thing you remembered was Alex telling you it was going to be okay, then the world faded to black.
