Forty Six

Spencer stayed in the office for a good ten minutes. When you'd walked out, you'd asked Aaron to keep him company. "Try not to be intimidating," you told him. When he started to argue that he wasn't, the entire team piped up to silence him. "You're a father. Just be there for him like a father would," you said, then walked to meet the team. Derek had pulled Penelope out of hiding to come say hello, but at the moment you were more interested in the newest (or oldest, depending on how you looked at it) member of the team.

He approached you, looking at you thoughtfully. "You're Rossi, right? Spencer has told me about you. I'm halfway through your first book, it's quite interesting." You shook his hand. "Pleasure to meet you." Rossi nodded. "Surprised you haven't read them all," he said with a half smile. "I'm not like Boy Wonder. Honestly, I don't know what he sees in me, but I hope he keeps seeing it," you replied, then went to hug Derek and Penelope. "I missed seeing you guys! Sorry I haven't been able to hang out." Everyone got caught up with you, and when Spencer came out, you were so lost in conversation with Rossi that you didn't even notice.

"Reid, I don't know how you got this woman to like you, but you better thank God every night," Rossi said to him. You laughed. "You're too kind." Spencer cocked an eyebrow at you, sliding an arm around your waist when he was next to you. "Actually, I'm lucky. Statistically, most men won't meet their soulmate until they're almost thirty, while on the flip side-" You cut him off. "Women are more likely to find theirs at around 25." There was a moment of silence. "I can see why he likes you," Aaron said. Everyone laughed. "Well, I just came to make sure he was okay and everyone was alive. It was nice seeing you all again." Emily hugged you. "You should come drinking with us sometime. We've missed you." You smiled at her. "I might. I'm actually trying to get a new house right now, so it might not be for a bit."

"You house hunting with or without Boy Genius?" Derek asked. Spencer rolled his eyes, and shared a look with you. "We're looking together. We've actually been meeting with realtors a lot recently, there's a nice house we're looking at that isn't too far from Quantico," he said. "I really have to go now, but I'll see you guys again sometime. Bye everyone!" Spencer walked you outside, hands awkwardly in his pockets. "Thanks for coming out here. I just kinda needed to see you. I couldn't wait," he said once you were out front. "Yeah, I figured. It's fine, honestly. You feeling better now?" He nodded, the movement causing some hair to fall out of place. "Well then I'm happy to have come." You tucked the loose strand of hair behind his ear, then cupped his cheek in your hand. Spencer smiled and leaning into your touch. "I'll see you when I get home. I love you," he said, then leaned down to kiss you. You happily returned the kiss. "See you soon. I love you too."
