Reid was livid when he got to work. He was angry about what Y/N had said last night, he was angry that it had an effect on him, he was angry that the second he stepped foot into the BAU office people were asking about her. Was it just too much to go one day without her? Did he have to suffer through hearing her talk to that annoying short man all day and then hear about her when he got to work? Is that how it was meant to go? Disgusting.

"So, Reid, why haven't you told us about Y/N? She was so nice," JJ said, passing Prentiss a bottle of pain relievers. Morgan took a sip of coffee, saying something about a headache. Choosing to ignore JJ, Spencer turned to Morgan. "Did you know that the coffee only helps with the hangover because the caffeine provides a temporary relief from fatigue? It alleviates the headaches because it makes the blood vessels constrict. Of course it's only temporary and can make the nausea worse, not to mention the fact that it dehydrates you. You're only hurting yourselves in the long run."

"Not helping, Reid," everyone groaned in unison.

With wonderful timing, Hotch walked in, nodding hello. "We've got a case. Rise and shine." He matched pace with Reid. "Did Y/N get home safe last night?" he asked. Reid grunted, then responded. "Yes. I walked her to her door and watched her go inside," Spencer lied. "Reid, I know when you're lying. What happened?" Spencer sighed. "We got into an altercation. She provoked me. I said things, then we went our separate way. At the apartment. I didn't dump her at some random location." Sighing, Hotch took it as an acceptable answer.

As Hotch gave them the briefing, Spencer tried to stay focused, but he was lost in thought. Everybody was obsessed with his neighbor. It was like they couldn't tell he hated her. Maybe it was on purpose. Maybe the team wanted to belittle him. Eventually he couldn't stand it. "I need to take time off. I'm sorry. I can't stay focused," he declared, standing up. Everyone stared, speechless. They'd never seem him do this before. "Uh... yeah. Go ahead. We should be able to handle this one without you, but if that changes we'll give you a call. Stay safe, Doctor." Everyone nodded in agreement and watched in amazement as Doctor Spencer Reid packed up what he needed and went home. "Holy shit."

Spencer fumed his whole way home, replaying the previous night in his head. Reliving how all his friends just automatically liked Y/N and took them in. All because she was the friend of Hotch's little brother. It was ridiculous! How could they stand Y/N? How could they be unbothered by the way she never had anything bad to say? It was unnatural. Not to mention the way she paid for everyone's drinks; what a stupid financial move. It pissed him off how he was the only one who say Y/N for what she truly was- a criminal trying to act like she never had a past. He wished she would just get out of his head.

And then it hit him.
