"Bigger Than The Whole Sky"- Taylor Swift

I sat next to my mother who was laying on the hospital bed with a bunch of random wires attached to her. I held her small hand in mine, wishing I could take away all her pain.

She fell down the stairs was what the doctors said but I knew it was complete bullshit. It wasn't true if my father was in the house. Nothing in that house was an accident, it was all his fault. It was always him. He was the one who caused all the pain in that house. I knew he was.

"You need to go back to school, Garrett. I don't want you to worry about me." She tells me.

I shake my head, "I'm not leaving you. Not with him."

"It wasn't him. It was an accident." She says.

I looked at her, she had bruises on her face, and a cast on her arm. That doesn't just happen by accident. I knew it didn't.

"Stop protecting him, Mom." I tell her.

She sighs as she looks at me. She closes her eyes and I watch tears escape her eyes, breaking my heart. I wanted to kill him. He couldn't even stay at the hospital with her, she was all alone. The only thing that was keeping calm right now was the fact that she was safer in this hospital room than at her own house.

"I'm okay, baby. It's fine. Don't get mad at him." She pleads as if she was able to read my mind.

I shake my head as I look away from her. I wanted to wrap my hands around his throat and watch the life get sucked out of him. He had no right to lay his hands on her. That wasn't fair, he could hurt me all he wanted but I wasn't going to let him lay a single hand on her. Not now, not ever.

I get up from my chair and my mom's grip tightens around my hand. I finally looked at her, my eyes filled with tears and rage.

"Don't go, Garrett. Please. Don't lose it." She begs.

I give her hand a squeeze before leaning down and placing a kiss on her head. I drop her hand and rush out of the room. All my anger builds up more and more every passing second.

I order an uber and drive back to the one place I never wanted to go back to. The entire drive, all I could think about was how he had the nerve to hurt her like that. Why would he do something like this? To the girl he cared about.

I found myself thinking back to Taylor, I would never hurt her like that. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

I get to the house and storm through the front door, all my rage built up and ready to let it all out on him.

"Where are you, old man? Are you done hiding?" I shout as I storm into the living room, looking for him.

"Lower your goodman voice." I hear him say when I don't see him in the living room.

I look towards the voice and watch as he comes down the stairs, his face filled with anger. I wasn't scared of him. Not tonight I wasn't.

"Is that where you fucking pushed her?" I yell, pointing to the stairs he just walked down.

"Don't you say shit to me, boy." He warns me.

"No! You listen to me! She could've died because of you!" I scream as I shove him, "Is that you want? You want all of us to fucking die!" I yell, fighting back my tears.

He grabs my neck and holds it tight in his hand before slamming me to the ground. But I don't give up, I get back up and punch him right in the face. And it felt good. It felt fucking amazing.

"Your mother should die! She's the reason you're fucking alive! My life would be alot easier without you!" He screams as he tackles me to the ground.

He gets on top of me and punches me in the face, I try to fight him off but fail by his heavyweight.

"I warned you not to lay your filthy hands on her!" I yell through my bleeding mouth.

"Well, who else was I supposed to lay them on? You weren't here." He says before he punches me in the face again and again.

"I'll kill you! I'll fucking kill you!" I shout through the pain.

He laughs. The motherfucker laughs before he gets off me.

"Do it then. Kill me." He says as he stands over my defeated body.

I look up at him, tears forming in my eyes. I knew I couldn't. I knew I wouldn't. I knew I was fucking ruined because of him.

"Do it! Fucking kill me!" He shouts as he kicks me in the stomach over and over again.

The tears escape my eyes as he beats every ounce of anger out of my body. I wish I could kill him. But I couldn't. I was stuck here for the rest of my goddamn life.
