"Ice Ice Baby"- Vanilla Ice

The puck hits the ice and it's like a bomb that goes off. I charge at the puck before I slip past my opponent. My legs filled with energy as I skate across the ice, listening to the sound of all the blades of our skates against the cold ice.

"Gray!" I hear my teammate call from across the ice.

My eyes met his before I hit the puck straight to him. I watched him slip past the defense and get clsoer to the goal. I push off the ice and move faster than I ever have.

"Jake!" I call back to my teammate with the puck that had my name written all over it.

He doesn't hesitate to pass it past the defense and right into my hands, giving me a clear shot right into the goal.

With one strong hit of my stick, I knock the puck straight past the goalie and right into the net. I smile to myself as I feel a rush of adrenaline fill my body.

"Nice job, boys! Pack it up for the day!" Coach Cal orders us.

I watch my teammates gather their things as they exit off the rink. But I don't move. I grab the puck and juggle it with my stick before hitting into the net that wasn't guarded by a goalie anymore. I smile before I skate over to the bench on the side of the rink. I pull off my helmet and spit my mouth guard out before grabbing my water bottle and chugging down the rest of its content.

"I see that you've been taking my advice pretty seriously, Gray." Coach Cal's voice fills my ears.

I look over and see him standing there with a smile on his face. I shrug, "What can I say? It's pretty good advice."

He nods, "Keep it up and you'll be playing professionally just like you wanted."

I felt excitement fill my entire body when I heard him say that. Garrett Gray going pro. Damn. That's been my dream since the day I picked up that hockey stick. I could picture myself in a New Jersey Devil's jersey.

"Thanks, Coach." I smile at him.

"Mhm." He hums before he walks away, leaving me alone on the empty ice rink.

I looked around me and felt amazing. I've worked my ass off since I was a kid to get here. And it was gonna pay off. I was gonna be the best fucking hockey player and nothing could bring me down. I was fucking thriving.

I make my way into the locker room filled with all my teammates and friends.

I walk over to my locker and open it to grab my towel and a pair of fresh clothes to change into.

"Yo. Are you coming to The Grill with us?" I hear a familiar voice from next to me.

I look over to see my best friend, Jake Peterson smiling at me. He had a towel wrapped around his waist and he was dripping in water from his shower.

"Yeah, let me shower and get changed." I smile at him as I grab a towel from my locker.

"Cool, hurry because Chris is starting to get hangry." He chuckles.

"Of course he is." I sigh before I make my way to the showers.

I take a nice hot shower to soothe my sore muscles. That was the only con of playing hockey, the muscle aches and the injuries from all the fighting. Luckily, I never got any serious injuries during practice only during the games. But the sore muscles were always there. I learned the only way to soothe them was a hot shower and when I say hot, I truly mean hot. Like burning hot.
