Your POV
Today was the sports festival. The past two weeks I had trained everyday with Bakugo and Midoriya. I felt like I had gotten stronger. I was confident that I would be able to get pretty far in the sports festival. The only thing that was certain was that the finals will be some kind of one-on-one battle. Other than that, the events could be anything.
The UA campus was swarming with people, pro heroes and civilians alike. There were booths selling food and other trinkets outside the stadium. There were a few media teams on the grounds as well, televising the games.
Our class was currently in our waiting room. We had all changed into our gym uniforms.
"Aw, man. I was totally hoping I could wear my costume," Mina complained.
"At least everyone'll be in uniforms. That'll keep things fair, right?" Ojiro told her.
"I wonder what they have in store for us in the first round," Sato voiced, sightly nervous.
Tokoyami was quick to answer, "No matter what they've prepared, we must persevere."
"Right," Shoji agreed.
Suddenly, the door opened and Iida shouted to us, "Everyone, get your game faces on! We're entering the arena soon!"
I took a slow deep breath to calm my nerves. I wasn't nervous for the games themselves, more the fact that the whole world would be watching.
"Midoriya," Todoroki called.
"Hey, Todoroki. What's up?" Midoriya responded.
I turned to face them, intrigued by what Todoroki wanted to say.
"From an objective standpoint, I think it's fairly clear that I'm stronger than you," Todoroki stated.
Midoriya looked a bit surprised at the forwardness but agreed, "Um, yeah."
"However," Todoroki continued, "you've got All Might in your corner, helping you out. I'm not here to pry about what's going on between you two. But know that I will beat you."
Kaminari gasped and asked, "What's with all these declarations of war lately?"
"Yeah, what's the big deal? Why are you picking a fight all of the sudden? And right before we get started...," Kirishima said, placing a hand on Todoroki's shoulder.
Todoroki shrugged him off saying, "We're not here to be each other's friends. Don't forget. This isn't a team effort."
I stood up from my seat and turned to him, "Since we're all declaring war on each other, I might as well join in." All eyes turned to me as I continued, "Todoroki, Bakugo, Midoriya, you guys are my biggest competition. So, don't disappoint me during the games. Show me that you're worth competing against." I turned around to gaze at the rest of my classmates, "And to the rest of you... I won't hold back against you either. Show me that you've earned your spot here, yeah?"
Todoroki stopped briefly before continuing to walk towards the door. "Wait a sec, Todoroki," Midoriya called, making him stop. "I don't know what's going through your head or why you think you need to tell me that you'll beat me. And, yeah, of course you're better than me. In fact, you probably have way more potential than anyone in the hero course. That's why you got in so easily."
"Midoriya, maybe you're being a little hard on yourself, and us," Kirishima told him.
"No," I stepped in, "He's right, you guys. All the other courses... They're coming for us with everything they've got. We're all gonna have to fight to stand out."
