Your POV
We were currently sitting in class, listening carefully to my father as he gave us the announcements for the day. "The hero work studies are a more serious version of your internships. They entail helping pro agencies on the streets and with investigations. Your teachers and the principal discussed them at the faculty meeting. And we all agree. It's too soon. They should really be canceled."
"What?!" Everyone was extremely disappointed. Well, everyone except for Katsuki.
"Aw, but we already met about them!" Kirishima whined.
Kaminari, although disappointed, said, "I guess, when you think about why we had to move into the dorms, it does make sense."
Katsuki slammed his hands down against the desk and stood up, a triumphant look on his face, "Ha ha!"
"Just because you wouldn't get to do one," Hagakure mumbles under her breath.
"But..." My ears perked up at this. Was this another unexpected twist? "Some people think we won't be able to raise strong heroes with that sort of protective outlook. And with that in mind, the compromise is to be selective about participating agencies. So, choose one with a proven track record. Otherwise, you won't be taking part," my dad explained.
I breathed a sigh of relief as a smile spread across my face. I'd get to be working with Sir Nighteye! Well, if he agrees of course.
"Damn it!" Katsuki shouts, an irk mark appearing on his forehead.
After Class...
I made my way to the teacher's office area, hoping to get my paperwork for a work study. All Might was the first person I saw, so I made my way over to him to ask. "Hey, All Might," I greeted.
He smiled, turning from his computer to me, "Hello, young Y/N. Did you need something?"
"Yes, actually," I nodded, "I was wondering if I could get the forms I need for my work study application."
All Might started shuffling through a stack of folders before pulling out a piece of paper and handing it to me. "So, did you already find an agency to go to?" He asked as I skimmed through the sheet.
I hummed a yes before replying, "Mirio asked if I wanted to do my work study with him, and I said yes."
All Might nearly dropped his folder as he turned to me with wide eyes. "You mean- You'll be working with Sir Nighteye?"
"Uh, yeah. As long as he signs off on it. Why?"
Before he could answer though, Midoriya walked into the office and straight over to All Might.
"Hey, All Might," he said, "Hey Y/N." We both replied back with our own greetings before Midoriya turned back to the hero. "All Might, I was hoping you could introduce me to Sir Nighteye."
"Wait," All Might paused, "You want me to introduce you to Sir Nighteye for the work study program?"
"Yes!" Midoriya replied, practically pleaded, "Since he's one of the few heroes that've worked directly under you, it's a perfect fit!"
All Might quickly shushed him, since we were in the office with the other teachers around. "So, Sir Nighteye," All Might continued unenthusiastically. "Who could have put that idea into your head?" He glanced at me, but I shrugged and shook my head. "No, of course. You wanted to be proactive, so you called Gran Torino, didn't you?"
"Yes, sir!" Midoriya replied with a deep bow.
"Well, I refuse." My mouth dropped open in shock. What does he mean he refuses?! "I'm not saying that to punish you, though. I have three reasons. First up. I opposed work studies in the faculty meeting yesterday. I think it's unnecessary for first years to start them so early."
