Paaw Jack had told him that they had found the shooter. He was an Outsider fanatic and hadn't like the idea that Dunk was gay and married to Joong. He was actually targeting Joong. The moment he realized that he had shot Dunk instead, he was devastated and had committed suicide when he was held in custody. An empty laugh escaped Joong when he heard of the news. The irony of it all.
He held Dunk's hand, the steady beeping of the heart monitor comforted him to a certain extent, knowing that Dunk is still alive, despite being as still as he is. Joong had never seen Dunk this still, not even during his depressive episodes. He just wanted him to open his eyes, to grace him with that beautiful smile of his once again.
He had tried to be there for Phuwin and Gemini, knowing how important they are to Dunk but Pond had told him not to worry, as Fourth and him has it covered. Pond had assured him that Phuwin is not overworking himself at Vespera cause his ever far-sighted husband had a mechanism in place if something were to happen to him. His heart clenched at the thought that Dunk was prepared for it.
Paaw Charn had dropped by, telling him that Dunk had been arranging for him to be his medical legal representative but hadn't been able to file it in time before the incident happened. Joong asked Paaw Charn what it takes to make their marriage legal. Paaw Charn had frown at that, he had been struggling with this issue longer than Joong. It takes a lot for this happen. Joong stated that he is willing to risk it, bringing it up to the media. He spoke to Paaw Jack about it. He can no longer sit back on this matter. It had become too personal. He wanted Dunk to wake up to the news that they can be legally married. The image of Dunk smiling at this news drove him.
It was not a question of if Dunk will wake up, Joong knows he will. He knows that Dunk will fight his way back to him.
