Pang-siyam na Slice

Jet's POV:

Our last class for the day just got concluded and I was walking along the halls with my friends.

"Guys, road trip tayo! Let's go south," -Carl.

"Tara tara! Grabe na excite ako bigla ah," said Neil who placed his arms over my shoulder and shook me in excitement.

"What day is it today?" I asked sarcastically.

"Wednesday!" They answered in chorus.

"Ayy may practice ka nga pala, tsk. Nubayan," annoyingly said by Neil.

"Road trip pa kayo...may school tomorrow, tapos diba exams na next week?" -me.

"You worry too much. Kami pa...diba dude," Carl said while giving Neil a high five.

"How about you Erikson, coming?" Asked by Neil to Erikson who is walking with us but seems to be out of this world, pano kasi naka head set, full blast pa yata yung sound.

Erikson just looked at Neil and pointed at the headset he is wearing, implying that he cannot hear what he was saying. So we stopped and he took his head set off saying "Ano yun?"

"Road trip, down south. Sama ka?" -Neil

Erikson looked at me and gave me the same question, "Sama ka?" To which I immediately answered, "No."

He said, "No, thanks guys, probably next time." After saying that, he placed his headset back and once again resorted to his own world.

We parted ways at the end of the hall kasi opposite sides yung way sa entrance ng school at yung way papunta sa pool area. Sabi ko nalang mag-ingat yung dalawa.

While changing into my swimwear in the locker area, I just can't help but think about what my adviser told me yesterday. Kasi magkikita na kami nung person na yun dito sa practice. I don't know how to talk to him about it or if he wants to talk about it at all. With all these apprehensions I just gave a deep deep sigh.

When I entered the pool area he was already in the water. He called out to me the moment he saw my figure, "Jet!" I answered back with a wave and gave him a smile. Parang wala lang nangyari. Practice went as usual and Joey was acting pretty fine. Wala syang nabanggit na kahit ano.

After practice we were left in the pool, just the two of us. We're resting our backs at the pool's edge, the water is as high as our chests. Both of us were just looking ahead.

I took in a deep breath and finally decided to break the silence.

"Joey, are you okay?"

He looked at me and gave me a smile, "of course," he said. Then once again he looked straight ahead. So ako naman yung nag turn sa kanya and said, "Yesterday, sir Tan told me about what happened..." I wasn't even finished with what I was saying when he suddenly splashed the water in front of him and uttered,

"Tsk. Dinamay ka pa. Bwiset kasi si Jonathan eh ang ingay! I told him to shut up because he is not the only one in class pero murahin ba naman ako! He doesn't give a damn daw whether maingayan ako or what. So yun, I punched him and told him that I don't give a damn whether his stupid ugly face gets wrecked or what!"

While Joey was saying all that, I can sense that he is still angry about the incident. He faced me and said, "Jet, sorry. I broke my promise. Sobra akong nainis, di ko na napigilan." He continued, "Si dad kasi..." he looked away, "Si dad kasi..tsk! I caught him, may bago nanaman! That asshole!"

Alam kong may family problem sila Joey. He told me na his dad's infidelity daw is so bad pero di pa rin nagseseparate yung parents nya just to keep face with everyone who knows them, kahit alam naman daw na sobrang babaero yung dad nya. Actually, to be honest, I think this is the reason why he has issues with his temper. Maybe it's his way of venting his anger towards his dad and their situation.
