𖡡 GWEN CASEYS BEDROOM

"hmm, what do you think i should wear to the party?" i asked maddy, holding up the phone on facetime. the options laid out on my bed were a blue jean mini skirt with a cropped tube top or a pink halter dress. nothing too extravagant — it was just my cousin's party and i didn't really roll that way.

"not that," nate sighed, walking into my bedroom uninvited like always. i gave him a side eye but kept my focus on maddy.

"um, neither," maddy squinted. "i think you should wear something slutty."

"i can hear you, maddy," nate rolled his eyes, already unlocking his phone like this conversation bored him. i set the phone down and looked at him.

"since you're so vocal, what should i wear?" i asked, arms crossed.

"put her on mute," nate mouthed, clearly about to say something ridiculous. i smirked, already knowing the vibe. "hold on, maddy," i said, tapping the screen to mute her.

nate stood up, all six-foot-five-and-a-half of him towering over me like a damn skyscraper.

"i think you should wear something easy to take off," he said smoothly. i knew exactly what he meant — two months away for a modeling program meant no sex, no kissing, not even a damn handjob. nate was absolutely sex-deprived, and i could feel the tension radiating off him. the man was practically vibrating.

"so you honestly think me and you are gonna find a place to fuck at mckay's party?" i rolled my eyes. "you're delusional."

i went to take maddy off mute, but before i could speak, nate snatched the phone from my hand.

"maddy, she has to go — she's getting dressed," he said, then hung up the call without a second thought.

"what the fuck, nate," i snapped.

he just shrugged with a lazy grin. "oops." then, like the menace he was, he slipped my phone into his back pocket.

he was so annoying. but i loved him. like, loved him in that stupid, all-consuming way that made me want to strangle and kiss him at the same time.

he disappeared into my closet and reemerged with a silk dress that hit mid-thigh with a slit up the side. "i like this one," he said, tossing it onto the bed before hunting for shoes.

i flopped onto the mattress and stared at the ceiling while he played stylist. it was 5:41 p.m. the party didn't start till eleven, but i was supposed to meet fez around now to pick up something to pregame with.

"hey, nate," i called, sitting up. "i'm gonna head out real quick."

"wait — where are you going?" he asked.

i smiled, grabbing my keys. "getting a surprise. for you. and me." i leaned in, gave him a quick kiss, and walked out.

"well, i'm heading to mckay's then," he called after me. "see you later."

30 minutes later

"hi, fez," i smiled, stepping onto the gas station premises..

"wassup, gwen," fez said, taking the blunt out of his mouth. he offered it to me, but i waved it off.

"how was that summer camp you went to?" he asked, grinning.

"it was a modeling program, fez," i giggled.

fez was literally my best friend. like, would-bury-a-body-for-me best friend. i don't even think he'd ask questions.
