Captain Guo followed his subordinate to the video room, as he walked he admired the purity of the structure. Polished granite floors, walls made of cinder blocks, this building had a strength built into it, comforting.
Inside the video room the man loaded up the section he wanted the Captain to witness. " See, Caption Guo, there is the guard up on the walkway. At this moment he appears to be startled, then he is lifted vertically about 2 metres. Then dropped over the side to his death."
"Interesting, can you ascertain what it is? Some kind of drone?" Watching the video, Guo felt like the solidity of his world was beginning to waver. All his hard work, all his structure might collapse in a heartbeat.
"Sir and that's not all reviewing more footage from the school. I have noted a few more abnormalities. Here in this video there appears to be a wild monkey creating havoc. In this one two individuals are apparently committing suicide together. In another there are two girls pushing a body out of a window..."
"Good work! Have you archived the footage yet, and sent a copy to the central computer?"
"Not yet sir, I wanted you to...."
The difference between humans and stone, is that humans are weak. The knife slipped into the man's rib cage with no resistance. The sound it made was a wet sloshing sound, followed by a hiss as the lung punctured. Blood poured from the wound, Guo watched its flow with impassiveness. The world began to melt around him. The granite floor became like a quagmire , he felt himself sinking. He could no longer breathe, he slipped on the pool of spreading blood. He awoke several minutes later, his clothes were soaked in the man's blood. He knew he did not have much time to fix this. He dragged the body to his office and locked the door. He then proceeded to clean all the visible blood and changed his clothes with his spare suit. Next he copied all the relevant video to a thumb drive and erased it from the servers.
It was time for him to conduct the investigation, he was not going to allow anyone or anything to blemish his spotless career.
