The security administration office was as bleak as most government buildings are. A man sits at his desk, always a professional. His desk is neatly ordered, everything is where it should be. His entire organization resembles his desk, only through proper structure can peak efficiency be maintained. It will only be a matter of time before his superiors realize his real worth, and give him his well earned promotion.
At the age of 32 there is still plenty of time to move higher in the bureaucracy, to obtain real power. Only by progress, can he fulfill his promise both to his parents and society. Nothing can be allowed to stand in the way of this progress. That is why he has avoided emotional attachments. Emotions will cloud your judgments and make you lose focus.
So here he stoically sits, at his organized desk, in his organized office, in the midst of the most well run security bureau in all of Hainan. But one never truly knows they are standing on thin ice until the first crack appears.
That crack manifested itself in the form of one of his subordinates knocking on his door.
"Captain Guo, may I enter? I have a matter of importance to discuss with you."
"Yes, of course, enter", was the terse reply from the statuesque man at the desk.
"Sir, there has been new revelation concerning the death of the security guard at Haizhong School"
"Please continue", was the granite like response.
"Sir, the incident appears to be a little more complex than the original reports suggest"
"How so? I believe it was classified as an accidental fall. Is there evidence of intent, could it be suicide?", a tremor resonated within the structure of the question.
"No sir, it appears as though the fall was not of his own doing. Someone, or perhaps more apt to say something, caused the death. Please sir, accompany me to the video room"
Captain Guo rose from his desk after placing the items precisely how they should be. Odd, he thought to himself, it feels like the floor is vibrating. Perhaps his legs are just a little shaky because he is five minutes late eating his boiled egg and rice....
