The ground was frozen and difficult to dig into, surely she damaged her sword in the process. But she was determined to give her brave friend a proper burial. She chose a secluded spot where the wind did not blow so fierce. She collected various types of evergreen foliage and weaved them into a simple garland.
With tears streaming down her cheeks she delicately placed the tiny body still wrapped in the cloth, into the tiny grave. She found as many large stones as she could find to protect her hero from predators. Then placed the garland on top of the cairn. Using the tip of her sword she found a large piece of wood, and carved a makeshift monument.

Overcome, she spent the rest of the day crying about the cruelty of it all. But she needed to persevere to honour his memory. At the break of dawn she continued her trek northward. On the second day after the burial, inclement weather befell upon her.
The temperature dropped significantly, she felt even colder without Flavio's warmth to comfort her. The storm began to rage, howling wind drove sleet against her, stinging her face. She lost all sense of direction, the snow was knee deep and showed no signs of relenting. She needed to find shelter and quick, she remembered stories of people in northern China becoming stranded in a snowstorm and losing their hands and feet to frostbite.
Ahead in the distance she could barely make out a shape. Some type of structure, she made her way towards it quickly, falling a few times in her haste. She opened the door a crack and shouted, "hello!!! Anybody inside!!! I need shelter, can I come in?"
There was no response, she took a chance and entered. She quickly built a fire to warm herself and boiled some water and ate some of the food she had remaining. She was so exhausted she fell asleep.
She was shocked back to wakefulness by a crash. Some large animal growled menacingly, a large shape filled the doorway entirely. In a beastly voice the thing shouted, "who dares enter my home!!" Upon seeing the scared girl, " it is nice when dinner arrives at your door unexpectedly"
