When she heard it she was to find the marking stick and fire the flare gun at it. It wasn't a great plan, but it was the only one they had. She felt the ice sheet vibrating under her feet. The smell of rotten fish permeated the air, surprisingly she heard Ani calling out and a girl's voice responding. Ginny?
There was immediate chaos, she heard a gunshot, Ani making an anguished cry. No time to wait she emerged from her hiding place, shot the flare gun. She felt the sudden rush of heat to her face as the gasoline ignited. She blindly ran in the direction she heard Ani's voice.
"Ginny! Ani needs our help, Guo shot him!"
The response was colder than the ice ather feet, "you have ruined everything, you meddling bitch!"
