The atmosphere in council chamber was one of nervous energy. This was a historic day, the first ever trial of a human. The accusations were rampant, a witch who concocts poisons and charms men. Defalcator of the public trust, usurper to the Royal hierarchy, terrorist, eater of children!!! She stood shackled, head down, in front of the council members appointed to judge her.

"This is why you cannot trust a human, they are vile corruptible creatures", said one nasally voice.

"Best we cast both of them out!! Be rid of them!! Close the gateway they exploited!", said another with a pronounced lisp.

"Girl, you have brought shame to yourself, admit to your guilt and go back to whence you came." said the third judge, whose voice was more of a growl.

"But I did nothing wrong!! The only thing I worked on in the laboratory was nutritional supplements!!", Jean pleaded in defense.

"Lies! We have witnesses to corroborate the charges of sedition. Of your plot to overthrow the royal house with the use of dark magics!!"

It was then that hush came over the counsel chamber. As a pink and violet figure entered. The nasally counsel man addressed him, "Alchemist Pockapea could you please explain to the counsel. To the best of your knowledge what transpired regarding the defendant."

He cleared his throat nervously, "honourable members, I am almost embarrassed to admit that I was beguiled by the defendant

He cleared his throat nervously, "honourable members, I am almost embarrassed to admit that I was beguiled by the defendant. She gained access to my Laboratory through subterfuge. I had no inkling of her malicious intent until it was too late. Thank the Spark that I was able to discern her intentions. Hopefully the political fallout of such treachery can be rectified"

"Regrettably, the Hive is already preparing retaliation"

Jean was dumbfounded by what she was witnessing, "this doesn't make sense! It is a mistake!!"

"Honourable sir, is there any more you wish to add? You are free to go, send in the next witness"

Like staring into a cracked mirror, her own twisted reflection gazed back at her as Ginny walked into the room. Ginny's eyes were hard, unfeeling, like stone. Another gasp from the gathered crowd as they realized something momentous was about to happen.

"Girl, what is your relationship with the accused?"

"She is my sister", spoken with no emotion.

"And what information can you share with this counsel about this matter?"

"My sister Jean knowingly created elixirs, poisons and devices to aid a foreign power to overthrow the crown"

The crowd began to whistle and shout obscenities at Jean. Some even going as far as throwing stones at her.

"Thank you for your testimony, but we feel that you must also be complicit in this matter. You are to be exiled back to your realm, never to return to Kaasaam"

Alchemist Pockapea shouted a cry of protest, but the counsellor warned him to go no further

"And for the defendant, we accuse you of crimes of sedition, high treason and witchcraft. The punishment is execution!!!"

Jean was struck dumb, this cannot be happening, she looked over at Ginny. She could swear she saw a sly grin on her face before she was shoved out of the chamber.
