Bai was screaming hysterically nearby , the smoke stung Yuan's eyes, blinding her. Behind her the room they just exited was now a raging inferno. The smell is what she imagined hell would smell like.

Whether it be the now charcoaled wasps, or her own hair singeing, she could not tell. The hulking figure in front of her advanced relentlessly, as if it did not fear the flames. It had some type of shroud covering its head.

She fired the flare gun wildly, missing the target by two meters. The thing had a singular purpose, and was committed to completing it whatever the cost to its health. It grabbed the limp form of Ani and tossed it over its shoulder like a sack of apples. Both girls tried to scream at the beast, but could only manage coughing.

Crestfallen that their efforts to save Ani were in vain, they pursed as best they could, but were too weak. The thing outpaced them and was down the stairs quickly. By the time they escaped the building it was nowhere to found.

They both collapsed, exhausted, crying. They were so close to saving him, they had no strength to stand up. From around the corner they heard a commotion, an engine revving, pushing itself to its limits. Blinding headlights erupted as it turned the corner, bearing down on them. They had no time to get out of the way!

"Don't just lie there! Get the fuck in! More of those things could be coming at any minute!" The hulk behind the wheel shouted. Yuan and Bai climbed in the back of the peach truck and the four of them sped away from the conflagration of the warehouse.
