Investigator Guo searched for clues. He felt oddly invigorated, this is what he was meant to do. It is not that he cared about the well being of Maurice. But he saw this as a challenge, and he must be successful. The night was pitch black, so Guo did not have line of sight of which direction the bird flew.
But thanks to Maurice's screams of profanity, Guo could judge roughly that they went in the direction to his forward right. All birds make nests, most birds bring prey back to their nest. So he estimated that Maurice has one or two hours at best, before he became dinner. Grabbing a length of rope from the wagon, Guo made his way.
Judging by the size of the trees here and the approximate size of the bird. Guo deduced that the nest could not be in the trees, they were much too small. That would mean a cliff side nest, sure enough, in the direction he was heading there was a plateau. There was just enough moonlight that he was able to traverse to the top. Since there was no point in stealth he began shouting for Maurice while circumnavigating the ridge.
After about 15 minutes he received a response, and was able to pinpoint his location. Looking over the edge, "ah Maurice there you are! I didn't know you were a family man!" There was Maurice, a little battered, lying between two eggs almost as large as he was"

"Ooh ooh ooh a little help would be nice, I get the impression that i am the bird equivalent of a birthday cake. And by the sound of all the pecking going on in these eggs I do not have much time!"
"Maurice don't you have wings? Fly up here"
" I never could fly too far with these things"
"Aren't you a monkey, monkeys are good climbers"
"I am a little scared of heights"
"All right I'll help you, but I want you to give me all the information. Deal?"
"Ooh ooh ooh yes, sure, whatever, hurry the fuck up, I see a beak!!"
The rope was lowered and Maurice was lifted to safety. As Maurice made it to the top the moonlight shone in his rescuer's eyes, they were oddly beautiful with a lavender hue.
"Ooh ooh ooh Did you know that you had a sister?"
