Her scythes slashed at him before he could back out of their range. They sliced deep into the flesh of his chest and legs knocking him to the ice. The Jean-mutant lifted her scythes for the killing blow. Guo rolled to evade the attack, but one struck into the tricep of his left shoulders, shearing off a hunk of muscle.
Guo scrambled to his feet and ran towards the the other two flasks. Luckily Jean-mutant's scythe was stuck in the ice momentarily. Guo reached the flasks and gathered them with his good arm. Instinctively he hurled one away as far as he could uncorked the other and drank it hurriedly.
The liquid burned in his throat, the conflagration spread to his entire body. The intense pain left him unable to move and he was entirely at the mercy of the{Death Harvester} She shambled towards him awkwardly, not accustomed to her new form. Shards of ice flew up in her wake, the sound of ominous cracking spreading from each of her footfalls.
She reared back and attempted a decapitation swipe. In a flash it was intercepted by a stone hardened arm. The scythe still dug a few inches into the rock. There was intense pain and an upwelling of blood from the wound.
The petrifaction of his flesh was still incomplete. In complete desperation he threw a granite hard fist into the skull in front of him. The Death Harvester stumbled back off balance from the blow. Gargoyle followed up with a roundhouse kick and a leaping punch. The combined impact of The Death Harvester crashing to the ice and his landing caused the ice to begin to give way beneath their feet.
The forgotten Guardian, in its death throes used its last action to slam hard into the fractured ice shelf. The result was destructive, the ground gave way beneath the both of them. Both of their new bodies were not optimized for swimming in icy water. The Death Harvester attempted to use her scythes to find purchase in the ice. Gargoyle grasped onto her and heaved back using all of his weight to pry her off. He refused to let go, knowing fully that it would mean his certain death.
The Death Harvester thrashed in his granite grasp, as they sunk deeper. His perception of time slowed, he pondered the thought, did his mother experienced the same sensation before her end? Almost as if on cue, her apparition materialized in the murky waters before him. She reached out a spectral hand as if to caress his cheek.
She mouthed, "not your fault, my beautiful boy, you can finally rest now"
