As the footfalls approached Ginny, she attempted to open her eyes. It was very difficult to do. she managed to open them slightly, just enough to vaguely make out the image of a woman. She was an average body set, not too fat but also not very athletic. The woman crouched down in front of her prone body, regarding her with a look of sadness.

She spoke in a familiar voice, " I expected so much more from you"

The slap to the face was like being hit by a bolt of lightning. A blinding flash filled her vision, she felt a wave of nausea flooded over her.

Strangely she felt a warm breeze on her chubby cheeks, and she heard birdsong. She opened her eyes this time with no difficulty. She was in a forest, a wall of green dappled with gemstones of golden light where the sun found its way through the canopy. The earthy smells filled her senses making her heart beat wildly.

She was not alone, her companion was a younger version of the woman who just slapped her.

She looked apprehensive, "Jeanne I don't think we should go in there, it looks dirty, we are going to get out dresses dirty. Mom will be angry!"

"Don't be such a chicken shit Ginette, we'll just take a peek inside"

She grabbed the other girl's hand firmly, and went to what appeared to be a large hollowed out tree stump. It smelt like rot and mushrooms, something weird happened once they passed the threshold. The interior seemed larger than the exterior suggested. They entered the darkness with only the dim glow from a cigarette lighter.

Impossibly they walked cautiously for approximately 5 minutes. Up ahead gradually a light grew in strength. As they walked towards it their bodies became all tingly. They emerged on the other side, to bathe in the yellowish light of a foreign sun.
