Ginny was marvelled by the bravery of the rodent, she realized she couldn't squander the opportunity that his actions provided. Ignoring the pain of her broken ribs, she darted along the flank of the worm. Putting the entire weight of her body into the attack, her sword pierced into the flesh of the worm almost half way down the blade.
Because of her forward momentum, she carved a gash in its side about a few meters long. The worm thrashed in pain, the wound split open wider and its innards gushed out of the cavity. As it turned its head to bite her, she leapt into the air and brought her sword down with all her might.
She cut the body of the beast halfway through, its purplish blood poured from the mortal wound. Ginny's sword was stuck inside the worm and she was knocked down to the ground again.
She needed to get up if she had any chance to save Flavio. The worm's body still twitched in places but it was mostly dormant. Now she needed to do something really crazy, she opened the mouth of the worm. Cutting her hands in several places on the jagged teeth. She carefully climbed in side the worms mouth up to her waist.
The smell was awful, a mix between vomit and shit. She retched uncontrollably, reaching around in the dark she still could not find Flavio. She climbed in further, up to her ankles, finally stretching as far as she could her hand finally found the tiny body. As gently as she could she pulled him towards her. Ginny shimmied she was back out into the crisp air. She held the mangled body of the flutterrat in her hands, wrapped him in a warm blanket.
He was barely breathing,"Flavio you brave little bastard, don't you die on me" Tears flowed from her eyes onto the tiny furry body, but he remained still.
