"You're okay." Biana smiled at Fitz as she smoothened out his shirt.
"They're already downstairs, waiting on you in the living room."
Fitz took a deep breath as he ran his fingers through his hair.
"Okay..." Fitz sighed out, looking at the mirror in his room.
He stared at how he looked and he smiled at himself. Biana took a few steps back from her brother."You sure you don't want me down there with you, just in case?" Biana asked.
Fitz smiled at his sister.
"I'll be fine. You have done more than enough for me, Biana. Just...thanks for being there for me." Fitz said.
Biana smiled back.
"You're my brother, I'm always going to be there for you. Now go. I'm sure they're expecting something worse than you being bisexual if you stay up here any longer." Biana said, grabbing Fitz by his shoulders and turning him around."Woah, watch it! This shirt is new!" Fitz scowled as Biana shoved him out of his own room.
"I'll wait for you up here so you can tell me how it went~!" Biana exclaimed, shutting the door once she shoved Fitz out.Fitz sighed and he took a deep breath as he went ahead and began to make his way down the stairs. As he walked down the stairs, he bit his lower lip. His heart was beating fast, he felt like throwing up. His anxiety was going crazy. He didn't know how his parents would react to the news that he was bisexual and liked guys along with liking girls.
As Fitz was now walking through the halls, he fiddled with his hands and this plain golden ring around his pointer finger on his left hand. He twisted and turned the round piece of metal.
I mean, his parents surely wouldn't get that upset over his sexuality, right? Compared to the news that his older brother, Alvar, was actually working for the Neverseen and was a secret agent, this news shouldn't break their hearts and cause grief, right?
Fitz walked into the living room and he stared at how his mother and father were sat next to each other on the couch. They held hands and Alden was rubbing the back of Della's hand with his thumb. They both were clearly anxious about the news Fitz had to share with them. Fitz took a deep breath and he walked over, standing in front of his parents.
He smiled at them as he hid his hands behind his back, still fiddling with his ring."Thanks for waiting." Fitz said.
"Fitz, honey..." Della said, staring at her son with concern and worry.
"Is everything alright?"
"Everything is fine." Fitz smiled at his mother.
"I just...I wanted to share something about me with you guys."
Fitz looked at his father and Alden stared at Fitz, Fitz noticed the same amount of worry in his father's eyes too."You can tell us anything, Fitz." Alden said, his tone soft and comforting.
Fitz took a deep breath and nodded.
"...I'm...I..." Fitz sort of fumbled with his words at first.
"I am bisexual, which means I am romantically interested in boys as well as girls."Silence.
Fitz glanced between his mother and father, gulping as they said nothing but stared blankly at him. Della was the first to make a sound, a sigh of relief and a smile grew on her face.
"Oh, sweetheart. That's...that is...I'm glad that you felt comfortable to share that with us." Della said, getting up from her seat.
She made her way over and gently cupped Fitz's face. Fitz smiled and he felt all his worries wash away as he felt the warmth of his mother's hands."So...you accept me?" Fitz asked.
"Of course. Nothing will ever change the fact that I love you." Della smiled warmly at her son.
"Thank you for letting us know."
Della kissed Fitz's forehead, which Fitz's nose slightly scrunched up at but he didn't say anything about the kiss.Della then backed away, taking her hands away from Fitz and looking at her husband.
"Alden? Dear, do you have anything to say?" Della questioned, clasping her hands together.
Alden rose from where he sat and he held eye contact with Fitz. Fitz's heart dropped when he saw a strange, not so comforting, look on his father's face."...Fitzroy, I have never seen you have feelings for another boy before. Are you quite sure that you are...bisexual?" Alden questioned.
Della raised her eyebrows at her husband but stayed silent as she glanced at Fitz. Fitz let out a quiet scoff.
"I am quite sure, father." Fitz said, staring at his dad.
"I can assure you, I have had feelings for boys before, I've just never-""Was Keefe ever-?" Alden began.
"God no!" Fitz cut his father off.
"Eugh! I grew up with Keefe, I know how disgusting he can be!"
Alden clicked his tongue and he sighed.
"Fitz, I just...I don't think I can see you liking a boy. It's a ridiculous thought. Are you just trying to get attention from us?" Alden furrowed his eyebrows.
Fitz furrowed his own eyebrows, scoffing again.
"W-why would I make this up?" Fitz asked.
"You used to make up a lot of things when you were younger to get our attention." Alden shrugged.Fitz couldn't believe this.
"So, you're telling me, that since I don't have a boy in front of you, that I like, proves that I'm not bisexual to you?" Fitz questioned.
"It's not really making me believe you are also romantically attracted to boys. I believe you are attracted to girls, I mean...you had a relationship with Miss Foster, but never have I heard you speak of a relationship with a boy." Alden said.
Fitz hummed.
"...Right." Fitz mumbled.
"Well, excuse me, I have said what I needed to say and now I will...spend the rest of my evening with Biana."
And like that, Fitz walked off, leaving his parents alone in the living room together. His father needed proof that Fitz liked boys? Oh, Fitz was going to give his father proof that he liked boys.
