TOPIC: You're telling your friend about a (new) elective/subject (that you're learning) at your school.

Dear [friend's name],

Hi! What's up? Hope you're well! Sorry I haven't put pen to paper in a while, just been drowning in schoolwork! How was your maths test? Bet you aced it!

Guess what? We were actually asked to choose electives at school for next year! Sounds exciting, doesn't it? I chose [subject #1], which many others chose, too, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case with my second elective, [subject #2]! Basically, there wasn't enough demand for that subject, so no group would be formed. I'd then have to choose something else... My heart sank when I found out! Wouldn't you be just as frustrated?

My homeroom teacher found out and gave me some advice: He/she said I shouldn't give in this easily and change my mind because such decisions are crucial to my future! Believe it or not, his/her encouraging words were really helpful. He/she even told me to try and get more students interested in the subject. And that's exactly what I did: I went around begging students to sign up to form a group! My teacher helped out, too! Turns out [subject #2] will now be offered at our school! I jumped for joy!

Anyway, got to go, mum's nagging me to do chores! Write back soon and fill me in on your news!

Take care,

[Your name]
