For or Against Children Having a Mobile Phone?
Have you ever wondered whether children should own a mobile phone? On the one hand, parents would feel much safer knowing they can contact their child anytime, whilst on the other, it would damage their vision.
No one can deny that there are many advantages for children to have a mobile phone. To begin with, they can call family members whenever in need. Hence, they can react accordingly in emergencies. Moreover, they can access fun educational videos and games, which allows them to learn new things. Therefore, they expand on their knowledge.
However, it goes without saying that there are numerous disadvantages to children owning a phone. Firstly, they would spend all their free time staring at a screen because phones are a great source of entertainment. Hence, they get addicted and neglect their schoolwork. Additionally, they would have issues with their eyesight since they would be staring at a very small screen. Therefore, they would need to wear glasses and suffer from headaches.
To conclude, although children owning a mobile phone could learn lots of new facts, it would have detrimental effects on their academic performance. In my view, children should not own a mobile phone as they are too young to be aware of the consequences of misusing it.
