School Starting Later: A Blessing or a Curse?
We would all love to go to school later, wouldn't we? On the one hand, students would be well-rested, whilst on the other, they would have more trouble getting to school.
No one can deny that schools starting later comes with many benefits. To begin with, students will get the recommended amount of sleep, by using that one hour to their advantage. Thus, they'd be more alert at school and would perform better. Additionally, their health would improve since they would not consume as much caffeine or energy drinks to focus. Hence, they are less likely to develop health issues.
However, there's no doubt that starting school later has quite a few drawbacks. Firstly, their parents would be children heavily inconvenienced because they would have to drive their children to school when they should be on their way to work, instead. Moreover, teens would not have enough time for after-school activities, as their afternoon would consist of more time at school. Thus, they will have less time for hobbies.
To conclude, some claim that if school starts one hour later, teens will feel more alert, whilst others insist they won't have much time to themselves. I believe it's worth changing the school timetable as sleeping longer means a healthier life.
