Gojo's POV

My ears are still ringing from the sound of the sparking fence, but I can't look away. None of us can. She wields a beam, making it rupture through the curse's skull. She annihilated the special-grade curse like a monster. She turns back to us, and I can feel my blood pool down at my feet as everything settles in my mind.

I need to keep them safe.

"Shoko, Suguru," I turn to face them. "Go back first."

"Satoru... don't be an idiot, I'm staying." Suguru takes a step forward.

"You both need to go." Suguru looks at me with frustration, but that doesn't stop me from looking at him with a warning. "Take Shoko with you."

"What are you guys talking about?" Shoko seems confused. I can tell she is also on edge because of what we saw. We are in over our heads.

"I'll be fine, so you two leave." I look at Suguru, trying to make him understand it isn't an option. I need them to go.

"Satoru..." Suguru complains.

"If something happened, having you here would be useless." As it comes out of my mouth, I realize I shouldn't have said that.

Suguru's face shifts to a hurt expression, and I can feel the guilt forming in the back of my head, but I shouldn't care about that right now. If something happened to them, I would never forgive myself. They need to stay alive. They need to leave.

"Is everything okay?" Y/n's voice sounds innocent for the carnage she just did. She gives small steps towards us before she hops off the curse's corpse.

Suguru looks at her and back to me as his jaw clenches. "Tch." He grabs Shoko's wrist. "Let's go."

"Satoru! What the fuck is going on?" Shoko reluctantly follows him.

"I'll explain on our way back." Suguru gives me a final glance and I feel relief as they make their way out.

I turn to see Y/n standing in the middle of the warehouse. She looks at me with uncertainty as she fidgets with her fingers.

"They didn't have to leave..." Her voice sounds the opposite of what I just witnessed, low and weak.

"Why would I believe that?" I ask as I analyze her; her eyes look slightly red.

" Because I promised..." She looks away.

"You promised I'd be back; you didn't say anything about them." I start walking towards her, and with each step I take, she takes one back.

Why the fuck am I walking closer to her?

"I would never hurt them." She pauses, looking back to me. "Not because I wanted to, at least."

She always confuses me so much. I breathe in deeply. "I can never understand your intentions, your words. Half of them make no sense; the other half are lies." The back of Y/n's bumps into the wall, and I take another step closer as she puts her hand out as a barrier.

"Please stay back," she says, her hand slightly shaking, trying to signal me to stop.

"You can touch me, can you not." I take another step as my heart starts beating faster. "Stop me." I take another step closer. Her eyes look up, meeting mine as I tower over her. As I'm going to take the final step, I feel the change in the cursed energy. Her eyes look at me with fear.

Don't look at me like I'm not the one putting his life on the line.

I take another step forward and feel it; her fingertips settle beneath my chest as my breath hitches.

She passed through my limitless.

I am frozen there as i realize just how easy it would be for her to kill me... I take a couple steps step back as my hands go to my hair, pushing it back as I try to ignore the lump in my throat and the oppressive feeling in my chest. I can feel the tips of her fingers on my body still. I can't do this.

"Are you going to kill me?" My voice sounds unnatural, so foreign to me.

"No! I... I don't want to kill you." She walks closer, but I move back.

"Then why!" I curse as I cant help the way my eyes start to water. "Why the fuck did you have to bump into me? Why did you even come here!" I swallow my tears not allowing myself to shed a single one as I  face away from her and walk to the exit.

"Do you really think this is what I wanted?" She screams, making me stop. "I have no say in this Gojo; I'll be trapped like this forever." Her eyes water as she breathes deeply.

I hate her, her words, her tears.

"I don't give a fuck about you! What you want, or don't want to do." I look for her eyes, forcing her to look me in the eye. "I want you gone, to pretend you never existed in the first place." With that, she stays quiet. I can feel my words hurt her as a tear falls down her cheek. She opens her mouth, but something happens that makes her eyes swell with tears.

Her expression switches, her hands going to her neck as if she were choking. I look at her confused as she gasps falling to her knees . She coughs and i can feel my heart skips a beat as a trail of blood comes out of her mouth.

"What the fuck, Y/n!" I walk to her and get on my knees to look at her closely. Her eyes look up at me as the blood keeps coming out.

What is going on?

"What do I do, for fucks sake, what happened!" I look around for my phone. I need to call Shoko.

"The elders." Her voice sounds so strained as she coughs blood out. "I'm under a binding vow." Tears fall from her eyes. "I'm sorry." Tears trail down her face as she holds onto herself. "If I don't do as they say, I'll die." She takes a sharp inhale in, relieved from the bow.

Everything clicks. Yaga, her, her words.

A binding vow. The elders personal puppet, a puppet that can kill me. A puppet that will die if she doesn't follow their command.

I fall back, sitting on the wet floor as the situation we are stuck in slaps me in the face. Both of us defeated from birth. I can't help it when I laugh in complete disbelief.

"Well, we are both messed up, aren't we..." My head falls back as I look at the ceiling making my eyes hold the tears that threaten to form "I have to admit I can't even tell which one of us is worse off. You could kill me any day if I piss them off, and you'll be their little puppet for the rest of your life." I laugh again. "It's like you are my leash, but at the same time, you are their dog... are we both just animals."

My eyes fall to peek at her. She wipes the blood off her chin and looks at me, her eyes still glistening with tears.

"It really isn't funny, you know," her eyes well up.

"I know."

I know its not.
