Nobara's POV:

I'm starting to doubt the idea of linear growth; perhaps we are beings that only truly adapt when faced with despair. I'm unsure what to make of the strongest anymore; what a burden they bear. Maybe growth doesn't happen when the goal seems unattainable. If they had arrived before we defeated them, I might have thought someone like me was light-years away from exorcizing a special-grade curse.

Is this the kind of thinking that gets you killed?

No.

I will win. Maybe not immediately, but I will. I will have a good life

"How did you manage to push those nails so deep?" Itadori's question interrupts my thoughts, and I turn to see him looking somewhat disgusted by the sight of the metallic pieces impaled on my arm. "Didn't it hurt?" His golden eyes look up into mine.

I recall the stinging sensation as I hammered them in. "It did."

"It resonated on them because their blood mixed with yours... That's smart." The way she nods as she inspects my arm makes me feel proud of myself.

Her words make me want to smile. "Thanks..." I respond.

"It looks nasty," Gojo's voice intrudes in my ear, his blindfold hiding his eyes, his hair completely pushed up makes him look like an upside down broomstick. I glance back at Y/n, who's shooting him an annoyed look. "What? It could make a nasty scar." His question echoes in my mind.

I feel my blood run cold.

"A s-scar?" My voice trembles.

I'm too young for scars.

"No scars!" Y/n grabs my shoulder, urging me toward the car. "Shoko is good; you won't have any scars." Thank goodness for Shoko. "Gojo, Megumi is literally collapsed on the floor," she points out the black-haired kid, who barely raises his head at the mention of his name.

"I'm resting," Megumi whispers.

Well, he looks like shit; half of his face is drenched in blood. We all stare at him in silence for a few moments before he lets his head fall back to the ground with a thud.

"See, he's just... resting," Gojo remarks before turning back to Y/n, and I can almost feel the tension crackling between them as their eyes meet. Y/n is mad. "I'll go help him up," Gojo decides, walking over to Megumi and hauling him up by the collar. "Hey, get up... crow." Megumi must be pretty beaten up to just comply in silence.

Y/n's voice draws my attention. "Yuji, everything alright?"

"Yeah... I just feel weird about killing those curses," Yuji replies, his usual upbeat expression replaced by an unusual melancholic look in his eyes.

"Why dont you ask me Y/n?" Sukuna's mouth appears on the side of yuji's cheek.

"Oh..." Y/n's gaze darkens as she sees him. "You again..."

"Did you finally remember us?" Sukuns opens the disgustingly sly eyes hidden under Yuji's .

Doesn't he feel any shame?

"Hey..." I step closer to him, meeting his eye. "You look pathetic when you beg like that."

His eyes become darker, causing me to take a step back.

"Insolent b-" Yuji slaps his mouth, silencing every manifestation of him that appears, reducing Sukuna to small grunts and gasps. His eyes are so focused it makes me want to smile, it's as if he's playing whack-a-mole, waiting for Sukuna like it's a game.

He might be the biggest idiot, taking everything as a joke. I glance up at his golden-brown eyes. Yuji Itadori... he's... kind of cute.
