Y/n POV

The silence between us hangs heavy, yet comforting, the only sound reaching our ears as we make our way through the field is the occasional branches snapping beneath our feet, the dark shadows shift as the sun threatens to peek through the mountains; yet neither of us has slept in over forty hours and it shows in our cursed energy, I feel my fingers tangle in the charges around his, assessing them; his cursed energy is steady, but it isnt enough to fool the six eyes we share, its strained, vibrating around him as he silently tries to prove himself. I understand, I understand he was raised as the strongest, so he thinks strength is everything I see in him, I want to tell him thats not true, but his eyes are to drowsy to pick a fight.

At least now I know how foolish i once was for trying to hide from him when we were younger, his eyes see everything, even now that the one I took is blindfolded, i can see everything behind me, everything around us, I can see and understand every single charge in every single atom, feel every electron, cation and neutron, the charges of our cursed energy moving as steady as our shaky breaths, as thin as our breaths; too thin.

One hour...

One hour more and we will rest.

One hour more and we can both feel like we did enough to deserve to rest.

We reach the temple and I can't help it as I tighten my hold on his hand, the moment we pass the door i feel drool pool in the floor of my mouth, the energy here is so dense it makes my breathing gets stuck in my throat, the veil that protects this school is born here, the energy extends around us and I can feel myself shiver as I feel it almost mold to our body, slithering around us in a way that feels eerily welcoming, the room is lined with mirrors, a arrogant podium set in the back with ten pillars surrounding the circular room.

As we make our way inside, there is no light, yet we can both see where everything is, even when our vision is pitch black, he walks in front of me knowing where to go, his hand guiding towards a staircase hidden beneath the podium that heads down, once we walk downstairs the lights turn on on their own, revealing the image around us.

Dark tunnels, all reaching a dark dome, carved in stone, a black veil cutting our line of vision, which makes me curious. The six eyes line of sight feels like hitting against a brick wall when I try to understand the energy.

We cannot see inside?

"Stay out here." He whispers.

...

"No.." I reply.

His shoulders expands and deflates quickly with resignation as I walk forward inspecting the veil. I can't seem to look away from it, the veil seems natural, the energy causing me to feel like... it's a weird feeling, nostalgic.

Why is it making me feel something?

I approach my fingertips, switching the charges to test its compound, my eyes widening as a golden light appears. "Satoru...look" I see the whole veil transform, the golden light makes my memories resurface... The golden light, "Throughout heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one." The sound of those words flood my mind,

The day tengen's merge died...

The day his wounds transfer to mine, this golden light.

"The-" I begin.

"I recognize it." He whispers, his eyes come to mine and he disappears before my eyes, he teleports closer, stepping inside before I get a chance to complain, his form sinking inside like it absorbed him.

"Hey wait!" I move closer, feeling estranged by the golden drape. "Can you hear me in there?" I can feel my stomach drop at the silence that follows. "Hello?"

Shit I hate confined spaces, I hate fucking boxes and cubes and.... ah fuck....

Do I just...?

A hand pops out pulling me inside causing me to squeal, I open my eyes to see but my mind goes quiet, the golden light is brighter here, blinding, yet..

It's beautiful... It's...

...

My eyes become overwhelmed as I begin to understand the tissue of existence.

The light... the energy.

It's the base of earth, it's everything that exists, the purest form of energy, inside the veil there is no floor, there is nothing holding us up, it's... empty yet full.

Quantum energy.

"Tengen isn't a person. He never was." Satoru speaks ,his voice startles me, it sounds like its coming from everywhere, I turn around and find him standing a couple of steps in front of me, somehow he was behind me, even when it was his hand that pulled me in. physics stops here... Or maybe it starts here. I focus, pushing my curiosity aside; his back covers what's in the center of the orb we are in. "It's a weapon... it's alive. They feed it people, because it absorbs them..."

I walk around him, my eyes feeling overwhelmed as my eyes trail the weapon, I have no idea how I know what it is, it looks nothing like a blade. Yet I know it is a dagger, almost like we are supposed to know, yet it has no physical form, its energy, pure, abolishing energy.

"Riko... I finally understand. She was a sacrifice to feed this... I can feel her energy here, she is... she isn't anything anymore, she is..." His words stop and I can feel the connection between us falter causing me to come closer, my eyes taking over him, he is okey... yet the connection indicates pain.

"Satoru..." I call his name to try to make him look away, I feel like he is looking at her casket. Why am I a little annoyed? I push the thought aside the moment I have it, it was years ago. It's dumb, and he is hurting for a friend...

"She isn't anything anymore. She isn't dead, her energy is here but its all that is left, she..." As my eyes look at the weapon it's suddenly clear. This eliminates the base of the soul, she has ceased to exist, reduced to energy, immortal energy.

Inmortal energy.

"Sukuna." It escapes my mind before I can filter it.He looks back at me.

"And buried deep within the nucleus of Jujutsu's society lies a weapon, guarded by an immortal being, that holds the key to your salvation" I recite.

"That is the immortal being... the weapon...." I am hesitant to say it. "It will absorb him, forever... if we were to use it against him." I almost want to smile... If it wasn't for his pained expression I might have.

"What about Megumi?" His words are exhaled and I can feel my brain try to remember everything we learned about Tengen. Its an immortal being that gets fed every 500 years.

"He was fed 10 years ago." I say looking at the weapon and getting closer. I see the strands that conform to it, almost like a lighting bolt, not the drawings... the branching types of lighting, the destroying lighting earth can produce. "He only feeds once..." I say starting to feel the charges around it, the different types of energies.

"So we die again and again until we find this at the right time?" His words are angered.

-You have the ability to bend energy-

"If only someone here could control energy...  releasing the last person... that would make this wand oh so very hungry for one more." I say looking up at his eyes, the pain that was on them mixing with something else.

Hope.
