"I'm never going to another show again! Fuck this!" The girl screamed as tears ran down her face. The guys around her stood deathly still and no one said a word. As Vinny sat on the couch, he looked down at the floor. Chris wanted to say something but didn't know the right way to phrase it without upsetting the girl even more than she already was. The only movement was when Justin had bumped Ryan's shoulder with his own, silently urging the man to do something.
Though it wasn't Ryan's place. It was everyone else's responsibility as much as it was his. Usually Chris was the one who was good with words but someone had to say something.
"Allie.." Ryan had started but truely didnt know what to say. No one did.
"Save it." She growled. Despite how she meant it, the way it came off made it seem like she blamed them for what had happened. It wasnt their fault, no one could've known the horror that was going to happen that night.
"I'm sorry, I know there's not enough words right now but fuck... What do you want us to say? What do you want us to do? We're here for you Als and we're trying to do what we can. I can speak for the whole team when I say we feel terrible..."
"Just fucking forget it." As she turned to leave Chris was quick to put his arm out and catch her, stopping her from going anywhere. It was a bold move, a risky one at that considering she had just been assulted hours ago.
"Stop. It." He growled lowly at her. Just because of what happened didn't give her an excuse to treat them all this way and act the way she was. "We're trying here. This was not our fault, there's no one to blame besides the three men that did it. Yet we still feel terrible and most of us blame ourselves. But you dont have to make us feel any worse than we already do. Understood? Be upset, cry, process your emotions.. Whatever you have to do. I get it if you're angry, but don't let it out on us." He was stern with her as he stood infront of her. No one else in the room would've dared to speak those words or use that tone on her at the moment.. But her relationship with Chris was different from theirs. She looked away, towards a blank wall as she crossed her arms. Within moments her body was shaking as her knuckles turned white and she refused to look at any of them. Chris grabbed her body, pulling her arms apart from each other and pulled her against him.
"Let it out, you're safe now and you have a right to your feelings." No one was prepared for the screams and sobs that followed. The men that sat around her felt awful for the poor girl.
"What do we do?" A member of the team had asked.
"She's going home. Make arrangements." Chris spoke, holding the girl tight as his head rested ontop of hers. The other man nodded as he left the room. As the noises came out of her mouth her fist came up to pound on his chest- not hard enough for it to hurt, and she didn't mean any harm by it- Chris knew how hard it was for her to control her anger and she wasn't doing a terrible job, but he still couldnt let her get away with this. He grabbed her small wrist in his hand and held it tightly restraining her from her action.
"Baby, no." His words were firm but his voice was soft. "C'mon." He pulled back a bit to wrap one arm around her body and guide her out of the room and into the privacy of one of the bedrooms. The air b&b they were staying at for the night was spacious so they were able to get away from everyone else. If she was going to have a breakdown she didn't need an audience. He sat down at the foot of the bed as he let go of the girl. What she did at this point was her own decision.
She let herself fall onto the bed as she sobbed into the pillow and gripped the sheets so tight her knuckles went white again. She was upset, scared and hurt but she was also so incredibly angry.
"You know, I can't tell you not to be upset, not to be angry because hell even we're angry. But don't blame us, and don't take it out on yourself. There was nothing you could've done and I know you don't want to hear it, but it could've been worse. They could've killed you.. But you're still here, living and breathing. They'll get what they deserve and years from now they'll all be rotting away behind bars while you're having the best times of your life. I'm sorry we weren't there to stop it sooner than we did find you. We're all going to carry that guilt with us for a while.. But one thing we can't do is give those men the power to control our emotions, we cant give them our energy or let this live rent free in our heads.. If we do that then they're winning.
I love you, I'd do anything for you and I'll be right here when you need me.. But you need to let this out. Process it and move foward. You can't sit in all of this for too long." He followed his words with a kiss to the back of her head as she burried her face in the blankets.
She hated that she knew he was right. He always was.
So she cried, sobbed and screamed into the pillows and blankets untill she had no more tears left to give, untill her throat burned and her head ached. And Chris sat patiently by her side, rubbing her back or playing with strands of her hair to soothe her when he could.
And then she screamed some more as she hit the pillows, getting all of her anger out with punches untill she had physically exhausted herself.
Finally when she had no energy, Chris climbed under the blankets, pulling her under with him as he wrapped an arm around her in an attempt to make her feel safe. He turned the bedside light off and tightened his grip as she leaned into him further.
He stayed up as she tossed and turned. Watched her as she stared at the ceiling or watched the bedroom door in fear untill finally her eyes couldn't stay open anymore. Only then did he let himself fall asleep as well.
Chris was right back up within hours when the girl had awaken from nightmares. He was right there to soothe her and hold her safely in his arms.
"I'd kill for you, baby. There's nothing to be scared of. I'd kill for you in a heartbeat love." He hadn't been there when everything went down, thanks to rehearsals and soundcheck, but never again. Never again was he going to let something like this happen to the girl as long as he walked this earth. She was safe by his side.
Please be gentle in the comments on this chapter as it was inspired by a real life recent event that I had to go through. Thank you 🖤
