She was running down the beach, as fast as she could, gunshots following behind her. She couldn't breathe because of how fast she was running. She hid behind a beaten-down barn as gunshots kept firing.
"I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!" Ward's voice rang through the air, fear running through her body.
"STOP SHOOTING. NOW," Rafe appeared out of nowhere, Raven let out a sigh of relief, her own personal knight in shining armor
"YOU BETTER MOVE," An anger Raven had never seen in anyone possessed Ward, she couldn't understand it.
A loud gunshot went off and she saw Rafe fall.
"NOO," She screamed running after him.
"NO! NO!" Raven sat up screaming, tears running down her face.
"Hey, hey, it was a dream," Rafe pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.
"He killed you," She sobbed.
"It wasn't real, I promise, none of it was real," He didn't let go of her, repeatedly kissing her head.
"He killed my dad," She started to sob, turning herself around, so she could hug her boyfriend.
"I know," He whispered, his heart broke for her.
He couldn't imagine whatever happened in her dream, he had never seen her more terrified. She sobbed into his neck, she couldn't breathe, she was so scared.
"You're okay, you're safe," He reassured her, holding her close to him.
He hated that she was so stressed, so afraid, because of someone he knew, because of his own father. He knew his father was bi-polar, he had seen him go from zero to two hundred in a matter of milliseconds, but he didn't know he was insane. Rafe couldn't believe that his own father could kill someone, but he knew it happened, he knew by the tone in his voice.
"What happened in your dream?" His voice was soft, wanting to be able to help her.
"Ward, he- he was chasing me down the beach, it was dark, He was shooting at me and he- I couldn't breathe, then you- you appeared and he- he-" She started to break down again, and he wrapped his arms around her again, hugging her tightly.
"It's okay, it's okay, I promise, he can't hurt you, he won't touch you, I promise, you're safe," Rafe held her close to him, fear in his eyes.
He didn't want to make false promises, but he knew that he would do anything to protect her. She started to fall asleep again and he held her close to him, while she slept. His arms never loosened while he slept. The sun came up hours later, Rafe slowly woke up to check on Raven, her sleeping body clung to him, like she was still afraid. He played with her hair, slowly sliding a strand through his fingers.
"You are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, Raven Amber," He whispered, knowing that she couldn't hear him.
He felt her shift and rubbed her arms softly, causing her to yawn, indicating she was waking up, causing her to smile.
"Morning," Rafe smiled at her, as she sat up.
"Hi," She moved her hair out of her face, and Rafe sat up, connecting their lips.
"Did you sleep better after you fell back asleep?" He looked into her eyes and she nodded, "Okay, good."
"Do they have food here?" Raven asked with a small laugh.
"I highly doubt it, I can go out and get stuff, but I really don't want to leave you alone."
"I can come with you, I'm not scared of people seeing me with you," She replied.
"That's not what I'm worried about, I'm worried about my dad going after you, let me call Sarah really quick, okay? Then I'll let you know, she'll be able to tell me," He got out of bed, grabbed his phone, then walked into the hallway.
It rang once before Sarah picked up.
"Are you okay? What is going on?" Sarah was asking so many questions and Rafe genuinely felt bad.
"I'm okay, she's okay, I need you to keep me updated about what Dad is doing right now," He sighed, leaning against the wall.
"He left this morning, he and Rose are going to the Bahamas, why are you not here Rafe, at least tell me that, I'm worried about you both," She sighed.
"Dad kicked me out, then he said something that fucked Raven up really bad and she wanted to come with me, so she didn't have to be around him," He looked into the room he and Raven had slept in, seeing her scrolling on her phone.
"Jesus Christ," Sarah let out a sigh, "Do you need anything, I can bring you stuff, where are you?"
"No, no, I got it, Raven isn't going to stay here forever, she's going to come back, I don't want her around Dad," He studied the girl.
"Yeah, yeah I get it, I can let you know when he is or isn't home, I don't know when he's coming back, he left quickly, like he was running from something, he didn't even say he was coming back, he just said he was leaving for a long time," She replied, trying to remember what she was told.
"Thank you, Sarah, really" He let out a long sigh.
"Of course," He said goodbye and hung up the phone walking back over to the bed, laying back down.
"He's in the Bahamas, he fled," He pulled Raven into his arms and kissed the top of her head.
"Does that mean we can go get food?" Raven let out a small laugh.
"Yeah," Rafe laughed, and the two got out of bed.
"We should go to the mainland, go to waffle house, in our pajamas," She walked up to him and wrapped her arms around him, taking a deep breath in.
"Whatever you wanna do, we can do," Rafe chuckled and hugged her back.
He kissed her softly and looked lovingly into her eyes and she smiled at him. He wouldn't want to be with anyone else in the world, because she was his person.
