With everything settled down, everyone was back to their normal routine, even Wuxian and Wangji's private activities. Though, everything seemed to have been going fine, but there was someone who has been hiding their pain. With everything going on, Wuxian and Wangji have not been able to pay attention to one particular person within their family as much as they wanted...Lan Sizhui.
Lately, he has been secretly dealing with dirty gossip. Everyone knows gossip and talking about someone behind their back is forbidden, but Lan Sizhui's heritage has become more known these days. Not everyone in the Lan Sect likes that a Wen is a potential heir to the sect. They'd rather have Haishi as people believed she had Lan blood, but her identity is also unknown.
The elders have also been still trying to handle Wen Ning being around the sect too. So it seems some things are still an issue.
Sizhui has already had nights where he'd fall asleep crying, wishing he was a real Lan or even a real Wei. Though Wuxian had a bad reputation that has been cleared, being known as a Wei would be better than being known as a Wen.
Sizhui's friends have begun to noticed the changes to. Meaning the disciples under Wangji and Wuxian. Biyu notices because she has an interest in Sizhui.
So one evening, Biyu could not sit by and watch anymore and sat down with Wangji and Wuxian, and told them what has been going on with Sizhui.
"I know we have been busy, but we are never busy for family," Wuxian said, "Sizhui is our baby, we cannot let these people get away with talking about him, Lan Zhan. You know this."
"They will not. We will talk to Shufu and Xiongzhang first thing in the morning. It is too late to go to them now," Wangji said.
"I just don't want anything to happen to him," Wuxian said, "he's more than just a person. He's our son, and he is the one person that really brought us together."
"We will help him, Wei Ying," Wangji said. He then turned to Biyu, "is there anything else?"
"It does extend to Wen Ning too. I have heard some elders being displeased about having the ghost general within the walls of Cloud Recesses," Biyu explained.
"These people are more protected with Wen Ning here," Wuxian said, "but if they have a probably, I can ask him to find a space in town...I just don't want him to be alone. A'Yuan and I are all he has left."
"I know," Wangji said, and a knock came to the door. He went to answer it.
"Hanguang Jun, Zewu Jun and Master Lan asked for you and Wei Gongzi to head to the infirmary," it was Lan Rong.
"Lan Rong, what happened?" Wuxian asked as he joined Wangji at the door.
"Sizhui was attacked by a couple students," Lan Rong told them.
Wuxian's eyes widened and he stormed out of the Jingshi without saying anything. Wangji followed after him. When they got to the infirmary, they went to Sizhui and he looked bad. He had a couple fractures in his left arm and his ribs, he had a severe burn on his right shoulder, he looked as if he was beaten to a bloody pulp.
Wuxian's eyes began to glow crimson, "who did this?" He asked.
"Wei Ying, calm down, we need to do this calmly," Wangji said.
Wuxian yanked his hands out of Wangji's hold, "he is supposed to be safe here. He was my son before he became yours and your people did this to him. If someone more happens to him, I do not care who they are, this has gone too far."
"Wei Ying, please calm down," Wangji said, "we will find out who did this, I promise."
Wuxian looked at the three Lans, "I was promised safety when I married Lan Zhan. That should have been added to Sizhui too. Now his life is at risk because he is dealing with prejudice within a sect that has rules against it!" Wuxian was in tears, "I want answers."
Wangji pulled Wuxian into a hug. He was the only one who could calm him down, "if he continues to go through problems here, I will request that he lives somewhere else where he won't face such problems again."
"You will get Baoshan involved?" Zewu Jun asked.
"Not just her," Wuxian said, "I have more connections now that I have access to Ghost City. Trust me, I will help protect people here but if they betray me or my trust, that protection disappears."
Wangji knew Wuxian was very angry. Wangji was just as angry. He didn't think his sect was still so corrupt as before. He was going to make sure that his family was safe. Wuxian was right, Sizhui would be safe with Baoshan or Hua Cheng until they figured out what was going on here.
It was Wangji's promise that he'd protect his family, and that promise was in jeopardy due to a few miscreants.
