When Xie Lian told Wuxian and Wangji that Jun Wu would like to meet the two, they were a bit surprised, honored, but surprised. They would be dumb to pass the offer down too. They could use the advice as long as they were able to get it. Jun Wu has a large history but Wuxian was someone who can see past it all as long as the person can turn around and due good. He doesn't agree with what Jun Wu did but he still admires the man for a lot of his other successes.
Wuxian and Wangji followed Xie Lian into a secluded space within a mountain cave. It was rather cozy. It was more homey, and didn't seem like a prisoner was held here. There was comfort and there was warmth. It seems that this person was being well treated and cared for.
"Xianle, you came back," a man said.
"Of course, and I brought friends," Xie Lian said, "Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, remember?"
"Yes of course," The man said, "come sit you three."
Wei Wuxian put on a calming smile, "it's a pleasure to meet you your highness," he said.
"Please just call me Jun Wu."
"Alright," Wuxian said as he sat down with Wangji.
"Xianle has told me about you two," Jun Wu said, "I'm quite impressed. And I also want to thank you for taking such good care of Haishi."
Wuxian's smile grew, "Haishi is a sweet girl. She is also very smart for her age. We will make sure she has the best life possible. She has great potential."
"That's good she has good support from you," Jun Wu said and looked at Wangji, "Lan Wangji, you have great potential about you as well. A willingness to protect and support but also sacrifice if it comes to it."
"If it comes to my family, I will do anything and everything to protect them," Wangji said, "they are my strength."
"It is rare to find such a person," Jun Wu said, "same with Wei Wuxian. I was taken aback by Xianle when I first heard about him. You have a similar mindset."
"My goal growing up was to protect the weak and innocent and curve the world of violence. I always tried to stick to that. I lost a lot along the way but I am glad that some of it didn't go in vain. Change happened since then and now people are realizing it is needed," Wuxian explained.
"Let me ask you something that was asked of Xianle. There were to men and only one cup of water. What would you two do to help the situation?" Jun Wu asked.
"First I would consider the situation, who is involved. If it's a young boy and an adult male, I'd say the boy would need the water but I'd ask the boy to save some for the man. If it was an elder man and a young boy, I'd still have it go to the young boy as the elder would most likely agree that the young boy needs a chance of survival. If it was an adult man and an elderly, I'd try to persuade the adult man to let the elderly take his fill first. Children and elderly are precious to us. Elders hold knowledge and the children hold the future.
If it would be a scenario where I was one of those two men, I'd give the water to the man. Being I am a cultivator, I can hold off longer from fluids and food. A lot of times there is no way to answer such a question without knowing the situation and the details of everything else. If I just had the knowledge of it just being two men, I'd ask they try to share it," Wei Wuxian explained.
"Interesting indeed," Jun Wu said, "what did you say, Xianle?"
"Get another cup," Xie Lian said, "as I grew older, I realized the flaws to that answer. I wanted to do everything I could to please everyone and being a god, I felt that was the case. It wasn't. The truth is, you cannot save everyone. I learned that even if it's just one person, I did something good. I would feel bad for the loss of the lost people but if I saved one, it's still worth it. It seems you have a different mindset on things."
"We grew up learning to help others to the best of our abilities," Wangji said, "many sects turn down small jobs and exercises because they feel it isn't worth the time. I went out on my own so I could do more for those who couldn't afford it."
"Sometimes the world needs more of the little guys," Wuxian said.
"Indeed," Jun Wu said, "now, the topic of Tan Lan. I have offered to help. If it's me he wants he will have me."
"Yet it won't be that easy," Wuxian said, "I'm guessing that is when we come in."
"It is, and you should have some backup nearby to get any victims out," Jun Wu said.
"We will go along with it. We just need a time and place," Wuxian said.
"Getting him to come out won't be easy, but since he is coming out in three months time for the exchange, we can make our moves then," Jun Wu said, "you have time to make preparations."
"Perfect," Wuxian said.
"Now, would you all like some tea?" Jun Wu asked.
Wuxian chuckled and agreed. Meeting Jun Wu was indeed an interesting experience. He could see why Xie Lian looked up to the man once upon a time. It was also hard to imagine such a man could conjure up such a curse that could plague an entire country within a day. It was indeed mind blowing.
After returning to Baoshan's mountain, Wuxian and Wangji discussed everything to her in detail. Baoshan was impressed with what she heard and agreed to help continue their training until the matter is resolved.
