Hijinks, Holdups and Harrows

Chapter 23

Sam and Robin sang their Lithuanian song for the crowd at home and they loved it as much, if not more, than the official crowd was.

"I love that" said Meg.

"Me too! I gotta learn that language!" said Patty.

Charles Wallace turned to Meg. "So, uh, Meg... why did I need to be careful when I hugged you?"

"Yeah, and why was Chad so upset the first time we asked?" said Calvin.

Meg laughed a little. "I had an operation during the holidays."

"That says enough. Chad always worries about you when you're in the hospital" said Sam.

"And chooses to suppress the memory" said Robin.

"Especially when we messed up babysitting his daughters" said Calvin.

"Mostly because I regret accusing you of something so horrible" said Chad.

"Now, Meg, tell us. Why did you need the operation?" said Batman.

"Well, we were enjoying a day at Wiggle Bay..." Meg started.

"You went to Wiggle Bay during the holiday season?" said Robin.

"Australian christmases are hot, old chum" said Batman.

"Okay, so what happened at Wiggle Bay that made you need surgery?" said Sam.

"Well, it's a little weird" said Meg.

Chad and Meg were on the beach, just enjoying a stroll by the sunset. 

They were holding hands and looking at each other with smiles.

"Chad, you know where we are, right?" said Meg.

"Of course I do, dear; we're on Wiggle Bay" said Chad.

"We're on a shore" said Meg with a smirk.

Chad smiled. "A distant shore?"

"Attaboy" said Meg.

Chad laughed and wrapped his arm around Meg. 

"Meg, I'm so glad you were able to take a week off of work" he said.

"I'm glad you were able to spend a week away from Actorville" said Meg.

"Me too. Now I can spend the holidays with the one I love from the deepest corners of my heart" said Chad.

Meg rested her head on her husband's shoulder. 

Then the two of them stood in front of the sun on the shore and locked eyes. 

But before they could kiss, Meg collapsed in Chad's arms.

"Meg! Meg, are you okay?" Chad gasped.
