Chapter 32

Calvin was starting to get concerned about his wife, so he went out looking for her. 

It was getting late, so he had to get her back before bedtime.

"Patty?" he called.

Patty was just getting out of the elevator when he made it to the top of the stairs.

"Hey, Cal," she said. 

"Hey. Where have you been? I was looking for you" said Calvin.

"In the most luxurious part of the resort" said Patty.

"And where's that?"

"On the top floor. I'll show you."

"Okay. But first, I got another call from the concierge."

"And?"

"And your folks are still running late."

Patty hung her head.

"You okay?" said Calvin.

"If this gets any weirder, Calvin, my head's gonna turn inside out" said Patty.

Calvin rubbed his wife's arm. "I get it."

"I really needed that room on the top floor; it's so calming" said Patty.

Calvin took her hand. "Show me."

Patty led Calvin by the hand up to the top floor and into the tearoom.

"The most luxurious part of this resort is a rundown tearoom with no one in it?" said Calvin.

"Isn't it great? And you get the bestest view of the sea. Just look at that sunset" said Patty.

Calvin got a good look at the horizon out the window. "Wow..."

"And this tea is so refreshing. Try it" said Patty making some more minty tea.

Calvin sipped some of it and was actually satisfied.

"Hey, that is refreshing. How did you find this?" he said.

"I was just strolling to the top floor for a better look at the sea and this was the only room with a window" said Patty.

"From the way you talk about it, it seems this room has more than a window to offer" said Calvin. 

"Well, yeah. Do you like it?" said Patty.

"Yeah; it's actually really nice" said Calvin. 

Patty moved towards the window to watch the last of the sunset.

"I hope my folks are okay, Cal" said Patty.

"Maybe they are. Airports are safe places. You know, security" said Calvin.

"Aw, gee whiz, Cal... but suppose they have to sleep there" said Patty.

"I hope not. If I had to sleep in an airport, I'd have a word with the crew" said Calvin.

As Patty laughed, Calvin put his arm around her. "Don't worry, Patty. If anything goes wrong, they'll let us know and I'll spring into action."

Patty took a breath. "Alright."

Calvin leaned in and quietly sang into her ear.

Glorious now behold Him arise

King and God and Sacrifice

Knowing what he was doing, Patty joined him.

Heaven to earth replies

Oh, star of wonder, star of light

Star with royal beauty bright

Westward leading, still proceeding
